Join our energetic culinary team as a Dishwasher, where your role is vital in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. This energetic position ensures all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are spotless and ready for use, supporting the smooth operation of our hotel and restaurant.

The Sylvia Hotel is a designated heritage building, ideally located on English Bay, beside Stanley Park and just minutes away from downtown. Built in 1912, the hotel is a city landmark and one of the greatest treasures. Our historic dining room overlooks one of the best sunset views in English Bay.

Responsibilities

- Efficiently wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools using proper food handling procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing stations and ensure all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Assist in organizing and storing clean items in designated areas for easy access by kitchen staff.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to uphold sanitation standards at all times.
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure timely turnover of dishes during busy service periods.




- Help with waste disposal and recycling processes to keep the workspace tidy and environmentally friendly.

Qualifications

- Prior experience in a restaurant, hotel, or food service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are valued.
- Basic understanding of cleaning procedures, food handling safety, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on cleanliness and organization.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team setting.
- Knowledge of kitchen operations or cooking experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to contribute to a welcoming hospitality environment.
