Together, our teams support projects across Southern Ontario, including road construction and rehabilitation, asphalt and aggregate supply, ready-mix concrete, specialty concrete solutions, trenchless infrastructure services, highway maintenance, traffic services, and other specialized construction operations. Our work supports provincial, municipal, commercial, institutional, and private sector clients while maintaining the safety, quality,



and reliability that Steed and Evans is known for. We are currently looking for a qualified Driver/Operator to join our McGillivray Trenchless team.

This position is ideal for an experienced AZ driver who enjoys more than simply being behind the wheel. The Driver/Operator will be responsible for operating company trucks and small construction equipment while also periodically performing hands-on labour to support trenching and construction activities. The successful candidate will be comfortable working outdoors, operating equipment, and working as part of a construction crew to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Safely operate company trucks, including vehicles equipped with manual transmissions.
- Transport equipment, materials, and supplies to and from construction sites.
- Operate small construction equipment as required to support trenching and construction activities.
- Periodically perform hands-on labour and assist crew members with trenching and general construction activities.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and cleanup of construction work areas.
- Load, unload, secure, and transport equipment and materials safely.
- Perform routine inspections of trucks and equipment and report any defects, damage, or maintenance requirements.




- Complete daily vehicle and equipment checks and maintain required documentation.
- Follow all applicable Ministry of Transportation, workplace, and company safety requirements.
- Work safely around heavy equipment, excavation areas, construction traffic, public traffic and other site activities.
- Work collaboratively with operators, labourers, supervisors, and other members of the construction crew.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Hours of Work

- Monday to Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm
- Some flexibility in start and finish times may be required to meet project needs.

Qualifications and Skills

- Valid AZ driver’s licence required.
- No licence restrictions and ability to operate manual transmission vehicles required.
- Clean driver’s abstract required.
- 3–5 years of qualified AZ driving experience required.
- Previous experience in construction, excavation, trenching, or civil infrastructure is considered an asset.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment in active construction environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding duties as required.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and experienced crew members.
