Drywall Journeyman

Position Summary A Drywall Journeyman is responsible for installing, finishing, repairing, and maintaining drywall systems in residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. This role requires advanced knowledge of drywall installation techniques, blueprint interpretation, and job site safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall panels on walls and ceilings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project drawings.
- Frame and prepare surfaces for drywall installation.
- Repair damaged drywall and match existing finishes.
- Install specialty drywall systems, including fire-rated and soundproof assemblies.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, lifts, and scaffolding.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and other trades on-site.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and follow all safety regulations.
- Mentor apprentices and provide guidance on proper installation techniques.

Qualifications

- Journeyman certification or equivalent drywall experience.




- Strong knowledge of drywall installation and finishing methods.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience using drywall tools and equipment safely.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work at heights.
- Robust attention to detail and workmanship quality.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
