THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a caring, dependable, and community-focused Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant who is passionate about supporting young children and helping them learn, grow, and thrive.
Reporting to the Daycare Manager, the ECE Assistant supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities and experiences at the Day Care Centre in keeping with the Aboriginal Head Start philosophy and program components. The position supports the individual and group needs of children and their families by helping create a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment that encourages children's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and cultural development. . Responsibilities include assisting with activities and experiences, supporting children's routines and learning, and providing assistance with food preparation as required. The position contributes to creating a positive environment where children feel safe, respected, included, and connected to their culture and community.
The ECE Assistant plays an important role in supporting the delivery of culturally appropriate early childhood programming and helping ensure that children and families receive meaningful, responsive, and supportive services.
POSITION DETAILS
This is a Casual On-Call position, with a wage range of $22.27–$26.72 per hour.
QUALIFICATIONS
You are a good fit for this opportunity if you possess the following qualifications and experience:
- ECE Assistant Certificate and License to Practice.
- 1-2 years working with children in a daycare or recreation setting.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal Head Start philosophy and Indigenous culture is an asset.
- Ability to support children’s physical, emotional, social, and cultural development.
- Up-to-date record of immunizations and tuberculosis test.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills are an asset.
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence is an asset.
- Criminal record check (vulnerable sector).
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate.
