TRS is seeking an experienced ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION (E&I;) SUPERVISOR to support the construction, commissioning, and startup of a major industrial project.
This role is heavily focused on field execution and construction leadership and is best suited for candidates with a strong industrial construction background who have successfully supervised electrical and instrumentation installation activities on large-scale capital projects.
The successful candidate will provide visible field leadership, coordinate contractors and subcontractors, and ensure work is safely executed in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, and construction schedules.
Work Arrangement & Term
Work Location: Remote BC mining site
Work Assignment: Cross-Shift
Rotation Schedule: 2/2 (camp site assignment with chartered flights available, travel allowance, food and accommodation provided)
Employment Status: Independent Contractor
Contract Duration: 1 year with possible extension
Key Responsibilities
Construction Leadership
- Lead and supervise day-to-day E&I; construction activities.
- Coordinate field crews, contractors, subcontractors, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and procedures.
- Identify and resolve field construction issues and execution challenges.
- Support construction completion, turnover, and commissioning readiness.
- Coordinate work fronts and ensure alignment between construction disciplines.
Electrical & Instrumentation Installation
- Electrical power distribution systems (MV/LV)
- MCCs, switchgear, transformers & grounding
- Cable tray, conduit & cabling installation
- Instrumentation & control systems
- PLC, DCS, SCADA & communications
- Heat tracing and process control equipment
Safety Leadership
- Promote a strong safety culture through visible field leadership.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and regulatory standards.
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with LOTO procedures, energized work permits, and electrical safety requirements.
Planning & Scheduling
- Support short-term and long-term construction planning.
- Develop and monitor look-ahead schedules.
- Track construction progress and productivity.
- Identify schedule risks and support recovery plans.
- Coordinate resources to meet project milestones.
Commissioning & Startup Support
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Participate in system walkdowns and punch list management.
- Support testing, energization, and startup activities.
- Coordinate handover activities with commissioning and operations teams.
- Ensure systems meet turnover and operational readiness requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or technical certification in Electrical, Instrumentation or related technical discipline
- Strong field leadership and contractor management experience.
- Proven ability to manage construction activities in active industrial environments.
- Minimum 8+ years of industrial construction experience.
- Minimum 5+ years in a supervisory or field leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience delivering electrical and instrumentation scopes during construction projects.
- Experience supporting commissioning and startup activities.
- Demonstrated success managing contractors, field crews, and construction schedules.
