About Canyon EV Systems
Canyon EV Systems is a growing electrical engineering and clean technology company focused on helping buildings prepare for electrification and the transition to electric vehicles.
Our consulting work includes EV Ready Plans, Electrical Planning Reports, electrical capacity assessments, and EV charging infrastructure design for multi-unit residential and commercial properties throughout British Columbia.
In addition to our consulting services, Canyon EV Systems is developing a new Electric Vehicle Energy Management System (EVEMS) designed to intelligently manage EV charging loads and allow EV charging infrastructure to be installed where electrical capacity is limited.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer who is interested in combining traditional electrical engineering with hands-on product development and clean technology innovation .
The Opportunity
This is a full-time temporary position for an initial six-month term, with the potential to extend beyond the initial term based on business needs, project requirements, and mutual fit.
The role will initially focus on supporting our growing volume of EV Ready Plans and Electrical Planning Reports , while also playing an important role in the development of our EVEMS product.
Our EVEMS is currently approaching the prototype stage. During the six-month term, the successful candidate will help complete, test, and refine the prototype and support the transition toward final product design and certification. Our goal is to move the EVEMS through final design, certification, manufacturing preparation, and into production by Q2 2027 .
This position provides an opportunity to become involved with the product at an early stage and potentially continue with Canyon EV Systems as the EVEMS progresses toward commercialization.
Key ResponsibilitiesEV Infrastructure & Electrical Consulting
- Prepare EV Ready Plans for multi-unit residential buildings in accordance with applicable BC Hydro program requirements.
- Prepare Electrical Planning Reports for strata corporations in accordance with British Columbia regulatory requirements.
- Perform electrical capacity assessments and load calculations for existing buildings.
- Review utility interval data, electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment ratings, and site information.
- Conduct site inspections and document existing electrical infrastructure.
- Coordinate with electrical contractors, property managers, strata councils, utilities,
and other project stakeholders.
- Assist with other electrical engineering and building electrification projects as required.
EVEMS Product Development
- Lead the development of Canyon EV Systems’ new Electric Vehicle Energy Management System (EVEMS) , including project management.
- Assist with development and integration of prototype hardware, firmware, communications, controls, and electrical components.
- Build, test, troubleshoot, and improve EVEMS prototypes.
- Assist with integration and testing of EV charging equipment and communication protocols.
- Support development of product requirements, schematics, component specifications, technical documentation, and design revisions.
- Help transition the EVEMS from prototype to a production-ready design.
- Support the product certification process, including coordination with certification laboratories and preparation for applicable CSA/UL requirements.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support component selection, procurement, pilot production, and eventual commercial production.
- Participate in field trials and pilot installations of the EVEMS.

- Design for manufacturing and transition from prototype to production.
- AutoCAD or other electrical design/drafting software.
- Python, C/C++, or other programming languages.
Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is an asset. Candidates working toward their P.Eng. designation are encouraged to apply. Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys both engineering analysis and building things .
You may spend one day analyzing electrical demand data and preparing an Electrical Planning Report, and another day troubleshooting a prototype EVEMS, testing communications with an EV charger, or evaluating components for the next hardware revision.
Because Canyon EV Systems is a growing company, we are looking for someone who is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment where responsibilities can evolve quickly. The successful candidate should be curious, practical, organized, and interested in taking increasing ownership as the company and technology develop.
Why Join Canyon EV Systems?
This role provides an opportunity to work at the intersection of electrical engineering, electric vehicles, building electrification, and current product development .
Unlike many traditional engineering positions, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of a new technology from prototype through certification and preparation for commercial production.
You will work closely with the company’s founder and have meaningful input into technical decisions, product architecture, testing, and the future direction of the EVEMS platform.
The position is initially structured as a six-month full-time term, with the potential for extension as Canyon EV Systems grows its engineering services and progresses toward commercialization of its EVEMS technology.
