Calgary

Beseem Technologies Inc. is a Calgary-based medical simulation company developing FASTneo™, a neonatal point-of-care ultrasound training simulator. FASTneo™ combines custom electronics, sensor-based tracking, physical simulation equipment, 3D-printed components and specialized software to support realistic medical training.

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Electronics Prototyping and Assembly Technologist to help manufacture, test and improve the physical devices used in our simulation systems.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, production-focused position combining electronics assembly, sensor integration and mechanical CAD design.

You will assemble, wire, program and test established electronic devices. You will also support product improvements by integrating sensors into new locations and designing or modifying functional components for 3D printing.

Physical 3D printing will be managed separately. The employee will be responsible for creating print-ready designs, evaluating completed parts and making design improvements where required.

We are looking for someone with practical electronics and CAD experience who can produce careful, consistent work at an efficient pace. The successful candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting problems independently, documenting their work and completing assignments within agreed timelines.

Responsibilities

Electronics Assembly and Testing

- Assemble electronic probe and simulator components
- Solder wires, sensors, connectors and electronic components
- Install, route and secure wiring within physical assemblies
- Work with Arduino-based microcontrollers and sensor systems
- Upload supplied firmware and configure completed devices
- Perform functional testing and identify assembly defects
- Diagnose and correct wiring, soldering, sensor and component issues
- Follow assembly instructions, wiring diagrams and quality-control checklists
- Record device identifiers, firmware versions and test results

Sensor Integration and Prototyping

- Install and integrate additional sensors into new simulator locations
- Determine suitable sensor placement, mounting methods and wiring routes
- Modify existing wiring and physical assemblies to support new sensor configurations
- Prototype and test sensor placements to evaluate detection and performance
- Troubleshoot signal,

alignment and integration issues
- Document sensor configurations, wiring changes and design revisions

CAD and Design for 3D Printing
- Design and modify functional parts for sensor mounts, electronics housings and simulator assemblies
- Develop and evaluate design iterations to improve fit, durability, assembly and device performance
- Prepare CAD models and print-ready files for company-managed or outsourced FDM 3D printing
- Apply appropriate tolerances, fastening methods, print orientation and support considerations
- Inspect completed printed parts and identify design, fit or print-quality problems
- Revise models based on physical testing and assembly results
- Assemble printed components with sensors, wiring and electronics
- Maintain organized CAD files, exported models and revision records

Required Qualifications

- Electronics Engineering Technology education or equivalent practical experience
- Strong soldering, wiring and electronics assembly skills
- Experience integrating and troubleshooting sensors in embedded or electromechanical systems
- Familiarity with microcontrollers, firmware and electronic testing
- Ability to use a multimeter and common electronics tools
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics and technical assembly instructions
- Practical experience with parametric CAD software such as Fusion 360 or SolidWorks
- Experience designing functional parts for 3D printing
- Understanding of tolerances, fastening methods and design for assembly
- Ability to prepare CAD models and print-ready files for FDM 3D printing
- Ability to prototype, test and improve mechanical and electronic designs
- Strong attention to detail, organization and time management
- Ability to work independently and meet agreed production targets
- Located in Calgary and available for occasional in-person meetings and equipment exchanges
- Access to a suitable, secure home workspace where company-provided electronics equipment,

components and devices can be safely used and stored

Preferred Qualifications

- Graduate or experienced final-year student from an Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, mechatronics, robotics or related program
- Experience with Arduino microcontrollers
- Experience with robotics, sensor-based products or electromechanical systems
- Experience assembling prototypes or small production runs
- Familiarity with FDM 3D-printing processes and materials such as PETG
- Experience creating assembly, manufacturing or testing documentation
- A portfolio showing functional parts or devices personally designed or assembled

Work Arrangement

This is a home-based position for someone located in Calgary. Beseem Technologies will provide the specialized electronics equipment, components and materials required for the role.

The employee is not required to own or accommodate a 3D printer. Physical printing will be managed separately by Beseem Technologies or through an external printing resource.

The employee must have a suitable and secure home workspace where electronics assembly and soldering can be performed safely and company equipment, components and devices can be securely stored.

Occasional in-person training, testing, meetings and local exchanges of equipment, materials and completed devices will be required.

Position Details

- Approximately 15 hours per week
- $34 per hour
- Part-time position beginning with an initial four-week evaluation period
- Chance for continued employment or increased hours based on demonstrated performance and production needs
- Some scheduling flexibility, with work completed according to agreed priorities and timelines

Application Process

Please submit your résumé along with examples of relevant hands-on work involving electronics assembly, soldering, wiring, sensors, microcontrollers, CAD or prototyping.

Applicants are encouraged to include photographs, links or a portfolio showing functional parts or devices they personally designed or assembled. Please identify your individual contribution to any team projects included.

Selected candidates will be invited to an interview. Finalists may be asked to complete a three-hour paid practical assessment evaluating electronics assembly, troubleshooting and CAD skills.
