Engineer 1 (SCADA)

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Fraser Vly Office

Annual salary: $ 74,300.00 - 93,900.00

What you'll do

- Sustain real-time distribution network model in ADMS. Tasks include model conversion from GIS and EMS, validation,

assemblage of station and feeder models, power flow and advanced applications tuning and model deployment to ADMS systems.
- Sustain real-time distribution ADMS advanced applications. Tasks include power flow tuning, VVO tuning and

commissioning, troubleshooting of applications related problems in real-time and functional improvements.
- Analyze performance of ADMS critical system components and prepare monthly performance reports including VVO

performance report.
- Provide timely Distribution-related Engineering support to System Control Centre Managers, Control Room Operators and

Outage Schedulers. Ensure that the outputs of advanced applications are accurate and ready to use by load operators.
- Collaborate with the Day Shift Manager, Load Operators,



Distribution Operations Planning Engineers and other support

groups to sustain and or enhance tools/processes used by the Control Room, including EMS and ADMS displays field

SCADA device operations, PA process and customer related data and issues.

- Support Load Operator Seminars by providing distribution system related information and training. Participate in the

development of training scenarios on Dispatcher Training Simulator.
- Work together with RTS SCADA, Network and Systems Engineering Team to ensure synergy across transmission and

distribution models, applications and infrastructure.
- Participate in ADMS system upgrade projects and other functional enhancements projects and work programs.

- Collaboration with distribution operations planning, distribution system planning, SCADA P&C; Engineering, GIS support

team, distribution design group and technology project delivery team What you bring

- Post-Secondary Degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in power system analysis, optimization and control.

Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering would be an asset
- Eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).

- Sound understanding of electrical engineering theory along with utility/industry knowledge

- The ability to quickly learn new simulation packages and operating policies and procedures

- Understanding of distribution system issues including voltage concerns, overload mitigation, and schedule

conflicts




- Understanding of the operations and/or planning of transmission and distribution power systems

- SQL, Python, C and VBA Programming experience

- SCADA, OMS, DMS and EMS experience would be an asset

- This is a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) designated role. CIP training is required to be completed annually, as well

as a requirement to have a criminal record check completed every 7 years and to pass a personal risk assessment
- Capability to perform a distribution network analyses using ADMS study application and ADMS Simulator would be an

asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Superior organizational skills

- Refined problem-solving skills
