English Teacher – ReadingGate Coquitlam Austin

ReadingGate Coquitlam Austin is seeking a passionate and dedicated English teacher to instruct students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in both one-on-one and group settings. The ideal candidate will have a robust command of the English language and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves guiding students of various ages and skill levels in developing their reading, writing, and communication skills while encouraging critical thinking and creativity.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards (Many teaching materials are pre-prepared!)
- Teach grammar, literature, writing, and reading comprehension
- Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and projects
- Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and development
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and academic performance
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration
- Lead novel studies, including Shakespearean works
- Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning
- Communicate regularly with the Director regarding student progress and classroom activities




- Assist students with essay writing and editing to strengthen their written communication skills

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree (or currently in the 4th year of university) in English, Education, or a related field
- English majors in their 3rd year of university are also eligible to apply
- Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum and instructional strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to engage students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles
- Effective classroom management techniques
- Proficiency in using educational technology for instruction
- Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Job Details:

- Position Type: Part-time, Casual, On-Call
- Hourly Wage: $21.00 – $26.00
- Schedule: Weekday after-school/evening shifts
- Location: In-person at our Coquitlam, BC academy (Reliable commute or relocation required); Zoom sessions may be arranged in special cases
