Overview:

We are seeking applications for permanent Environmental Technician to support a variety of environmental programs throughout British Columbia. The ideal Candidate will assist with fish and environmental monitoring activities, data collection, reporting, and field logistics, while working closely with senior technical staff to support regulatory compliance and environmental protection objectives. This position is based out of our Fort St. John, BC office.

Job Responsibilities: The responsibilities for an Environmental Technician will include, but are not limited to:

- Working with contractors and clients to assess compliance and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Providing Erosion and sediment control (ESC) and environmental advice to contractors and clients.
- Understanding environmental regulatory requirements and processes in BC.
- Performing fish and wildlife salvages, water quality sampling, bird/nest sweeps, and vegetation surveys.




- Conducting nest/den/habitat feature monitoring using trail cameras and visual observation.
- Maintaining clear and accurate records of daily and weekly monitoring activities.
- Working closely with senior biologists and project managers to integrate wildlife and fisheries data into comprehensive environmental plans.
- Building positive relationships with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Adhering to safety protocols while working on industrial sites, in remote and rugged terrain, and in variable weather conditions.

Qualifications:

- Diploma, BSc or MSc in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in environmental consulting or the natural resource sector.
- Qualified designation such as RPBio, PBiol, PAg or RBTech is required.
- Familiarity with fish and wildlife survey techniques, environmental impact assessments, and mitigation planning.
- Certification in electrofishing, Swiftwater rescue, or other relevant training is an asset.
- Basic understanding of applicable environmental legislation around protection of fish, wildlife and birds.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and GIS/mapping tools.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments and remote locations.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license is required.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Compensation:

- The pay range for this position is $26- $40 per hour; pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
