We complete general contracting and structural restoration work across the industrial, commercial and institutional (ICI) and multi-unit residential sectors. The Role

MCL is hiring a Shop Foreman to lead and coordinate the daily operation of our shop and yard. This hands-on role ensures that tools, access equipment, materials and vehicles are safe, organized, maintained and ready when project teams need them. The Shop Foreman works closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to support multiple active projects, respond to changing priorities, and keep operations running efficiently.

Responsibilities

Shop and Yard Operations

- Oversee daily shop and yard activities, including material staging, equipment preparation, light fabrication, repairs and housekeeping.
- Ensure tools, access equipment and materials are ready to pick up or be delivered to job sites when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, efficient and safe shop and yard.
- Maintain daily logs and checklists (fuel, tools, etc...)

Field and Operations Support

- Work closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to anticipate project needs, priorities and timelines.
- Coordinate logistics for multiple active projects, including urgent requests and changing site requirements.
- Support the mobilization and demobilization of job sites, including preparation, dispatch and return of company assets.

Team Leadership

- Direct and support assigned shop and yard team members, providing hands-on guidance as required.
- Set clear expectations, monitor work completion and provide practical feedback to maintain performance.
- Promote accountability, productivity, teamwork and a strong safety culture.

Inventory and Asset Management

- Manage inventory levels for construction materials, tools, parts and consumables.
- Track the issue, return, condition, location and repair status of company assets, including power tools, access systems and vehicles.
- Coordinate receiving,



approved procurement requests and routine replenishment with the operations team to avoid project delays.

Equipment Maintenance

- Oversee preventive maintenance and inspection programs for tools, vehicles and access equipment.
- Coordinate qualified repairs, follow up on service work and confirm that equipment is protected and operational before returning it to use.
- Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance and asset-tracking records.

Health and Safety Compliance

- Apply company safety policies and applicable health and safety requirements throughout the shop and yard.
- Take ownership of the shop specific health and safety program.
- Conduct routine shop inspections, safety meetings and hazard assessments, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure fuels and other hazardous materials are handled, stored and documented properly, including requirements associated with the shop fueling station.
- Remove defective or unsafe tools and equipment from service until repaired or replaced.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- At least five years of construction or closely related shop, yard or field-operations experience.
- Previous supervisory or foreman-level experience in a shop, yard or construction field environment.
- Strong working knowledge of construction tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan work, coordinate logistics, maintain records and manage competing priorities.
- Solid organizational, communication, problem-solving and follow-through skills.
- A valid Ontario G driver's licence and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of shop, yard, loading and site-support work.

Preferred Qualifications

- A DZ or A Restricted driver's license is an asset.




- Building-restoration experience involving concrete, masonry, façades or waterproofing.
- Familiarity with restoration materials, methods and access-equipment requirements.
- Experience with inventory, maintenance or asset-tracking systems.
- Relevant equipment, material-handling or equipment certifications.

Work Environment This position is primarily based in the MCL shop and yard, with regular coordination with field teams and occasional visits to active job sites. The role operates in a quick-paced environment supporting multiple projects with shifting priorities. Work involves regular movement through shop and yard areas and may include loading, unloading, lifting, bending, standing, driving and exposure to vehicles, tools, equipment, dust, noise and changing weather conditions.

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
