We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Estimator to join our team.

The Role The Estimator is responsible for reviewing customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate, competitive, and commercially sound quotations for fabricated and manufactured products.

The Estimator evaluates the complete manufacturing requirements of a project, including materials, labour, equipment, production processes, outside services, lead times, and other associated costs.

This position works closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Project Management to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and that quotations accurately reflect the work required to manufacture the product.

The successful candidate will combine solid technical understanding with analytical thinking, attention to detail, and commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and analyze customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for fabrication and manufacturing projects.
- Determine material requirements, quantities, specifications, and associated costs.
- Estimate labour requirements and manufacturing time based on the processes required to complete the work.
- Identify required manufacturing processes, including cutting, forming, machining, welding, fabrication, finishing, assembly, and other applicable operations.
- Identify requirements for outside processing or subcontracted services when applicable.
- Obtain and evaluate material, component, and subcontractor pricing as required.
- Review technical drawings and specifications to identify manufacturing requirements, tolerances, materials, finishes, and potential production challenges.
- Identify missing, conflicting, or unclear information within RFQs and obtain clarification before finalizing quotations.
- Work closely with Sales to understand customer expectations, quantities, delivery requirements, and commercial considerations.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to confirm manufacturing methods, equipment capabilities, labour requirements, and realistic production assumptions.
- Coordinate with Purchasing when current material, component, or outside-service pricing is required.
- Evaluate production capacity, manufacturing complexity, lead times,

and potential project risks during the estimating process.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, efficiency, and cost competitiveness.
- Prepare clear and complete quotations and supporting estimating documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, assumptions, pricing, revisions, and customer requirements.
- Review quote revisions and assess the cost impact of changes to drawings, quantities, specifications, materials, or scope.
- Support the transition of awarded work from Estimating/Sales to Project Management, Engineering, and Operations.
- Review estimated versus actual project costs when appropriate to identify variances and improve future estimating accuracy.
- Maintain and continuously improve estimating methods, historical costing information, and estimating tools.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quoting, costing, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

- Previous experience in estimating, manufacturing, fabrication, machining, engineering, or a related technical environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, workflows, and production requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
