Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fabrication & Welding Supervisor for our Day Shift at our Guelph facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will lead, inspire, and oversee our dedicated team of custom steel fabricators and welders. Your mission will be to streamline material flow, uphold rigorous ISO quality standards, and ensure our projects are delivered safely, accurately, and on time to exceed our customers' expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Shop Floor Leadership: Provide hands-on guidance, mentorship, and daily management support to our team of skilled fabricators and welders.
- Production Optimization: Manage, coordinate, and optimize all fabrication and welding activities, leveraging deep knowledge of material flow, process layout, and shop floor efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Enforce strict adherence to ISO quality standards to maintain Durose's reputation for exceptional craftsmanship.
- Safety Culture: Promote a proactive health and safety environment by establishing, tracking, and enforcing workplace procedures in complete compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Team Management: Conduct annual performance evaluations, deliver actionable feedback, maintain workforce morale, and address performance or disciplinary issues professionally.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Partner with scheduling, material handling, shipping,



and receiving teams to optimize production flow during peak and low-volume periods.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze workflows, draft standard operating procedures (SOPs), participate in leadership meetings, and identify areas to reduce waste and cycle times.

Required Experience & Qualifications

- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience strictly within custom steel fabrication and welding environments.
- Certifications: CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) Supervisor certification or related welding credentials are considered a strong asset.
- Education: Community college diploma in a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on industrial/manufacturing experience.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced capability to interpret complex, customer-supplied Engineered Drawings with high attention to detail.
- Trade Knowledge: Robust, practical understanding of fitting, welding processes, machining, and processing for OEM and custom projects, including accurate labor-time forecasting.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act, Industrial Regulations, and Employment Standards Act.
- Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, paired with a proven track record of team building and team-oriented problem-solving.
