About Us:
The Chatham Community Hope Centre is a faith-rooted, registered charitable organization serving communities by meeting urgent needs and supporting long-term transformation. Open 365 days a year, the Hope Centre provides nightly hot meals, daytime food and hygiene supports, and wraparound care for individuals facing poverty, homelessness, and addiction. Guided by Christian values and a commitment to dignity, accountability, and compassion, the Centre partners with the community to help people move from crisis toward stability, healing, and renewed purpose.
Position Summary:
The Chatham Community Hope Centre is looking for a dependable, hands-on Facilities & Operations Support team member to help keep our Centre clean, safe, organized and welcoming for guests, volunteers and staff.
This is an active, practical role that supports the day-to-day operation of the Hope Centre, reporting to the Operations Supervisor and working closely with Program Coordinators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the Centre, including washrooms, common areas, offices, program spaces and kitchen areas.
- Complete routine building checks and basic maintenance and repairs.
- Identify and report safety concerns, damage and maintenance issues.
- Receive, sort, organize and store donations.
- Assist with laundry and preparation of donated items.
- Support food pantry and food-service operations with receiving, moving, stocking and organizing supplies.
- Set up and clean up rooms for programs, meetings, training and special events.
- Move and organize tables, chairs, equipment, donations and supplies.
- Monitor cleaning,
facility and operational supplies and report replenishment needs.
- Provide practical and physical support to Program Coordinators and other staff.
- Participate in one evening Drop-In shift each week to remain connected to our guests and frontline services.
- Assist with occasional weekend, event and seasonal operational needs.
The ideal candidate is:
- Dependable, organized and able to work independently.
- Comfortable with physical, hands-on work and moving supplies and equipment.
- Able to complete basic maintenance and repairs safely.
- Detail-oriented and takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming workplace.
- Able to identify safety and maintenance concerns and communicate them promptly.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff and volunteers.
- Compassionate and demonstrates the ability to work respectfully with individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges, and food insecurity.
- Passionate for serving through a Christ-centred lens.
- Able to handle escalated situations with composure and de-escalation techniques.
What we offer:
- Annual Salary of $45,500.

Requirements:
- 44 hours per week including one evening per week supporting the Drop-In Program.
- Occasional travel between Leamington and Chatham sites may be required.
- Hours will include some evenings and weekends as required.
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Safe Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Class G drivers license.
Pay: $45,500.00 per year
