Job Overview The Farm Machinery Operator is a full time, permanent position responsible for supporting daily farm operations through the safe and efficient operation of farm machinery and equipment. This hands-on role includes assisting with crop and vegetable handling, maintaining quality and production records, following farm safety and bio-security procedures, and performing general farm duties as needed. The successful candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and contributing to a fast-paced organic farming operation.

Duties

- Operate forklifts, tractors and other farming machinery to complete required tasks
- Operate and maintain farm machinery, equipment, and vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Perform general farm duties to support planting, growing, harvesting, and crop handling activities.
- Assist with cleaning, sorting, grading, and preparing vegetables for market according to quality standards.
- Inspect crops and products to assess quality and market readiness.
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Follow all farm safety, bio-security, and operational procedures.
- Complete and maintain accurate production records, work logs, and other required documentation.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Operate a forklift and other equipment as required.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Work outdoors and in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Support other areas of the farm operation and perform additional duties as assigned.




- General maintenance assistance throughout the farm
- Additional duties include cleaning, sharpening and maintaining the condition of tools and equipment used for the production of work on the farm.
- Assist farm teams when required with various functions relating to the farm.
- Handle heavy lifting tasks involved in moving equipment or supplies around the farm site.
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents during heavy equipment operation and manual tasks.

Qualifications

- Previous experience operating farm machinery or heavy equipment is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues with machinery and tools.
- Basic farm knowledge, usually obtained from working on a family farm, is required for employment.
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment safely.
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to farming activities.
- Strong attention to safety standards and procedures during all operations.
