About BuildMind
BuildMind is an AI-native job-costing app built for small residential builders and trade contractors. Most builders don't find out where a project really stands until the month-end paperwork catches up — by which point the money is already spent. BuildMind gives them a live view of what they've paid and what they've committed but not yet paid, so they know their position while there's still time to act on it.
We're a small, early-revenue company based in Richmond, BC. You'd be working directly with the founder.
The Role
This is a field role, not a desk role. Our customers are on job sites, at supply counters, and in permit line-ups — not on LinkedIn. Your job is to go find them.
You'll spend most of your week in front of builders across Metro Vancouver: introducing BuildMind, running a five-minute demo on a phone, and bringing qualified builders into our sign-up funnel. You'll also be our eyes and ears in the market — what builders object to, what they're using now, what makes them stop and listen.
What you'll do
Identify and approach small residential builders and general contractors across Metro Vancouver — job sites, lumber yards, supply houses, trade counters, permit offices
Deliver short, in-person product demonstrations
Distribute branded materials with tracked referral codes, and log every meaningful conversation
Represent BuildMind at local builder association and trade events
Report weekly on outreach volume, conversations held, and qualified sign-ups
Feed field intelligence back to the founder: objections, pricing reactions, competitor mentions
What we're looking for
1–2 years of sales, business development, or customer-facing experience. Industry background matters less than your ability to start a conversation with a stranger and keep it going.
Fluent in English— you'll need to hold a natural, credible conversation with tradespeople, on their terms and at their pace
Based in Metro Vancouver, with a valid BC driver's license and access to a vehicle
Comfortable with cold, in-person approach. There are no warm leads in this role. If walking up to a foreman on a Tuesday morning sounds unpleasant, this isn't the job.
Self-directed. You'll plan your own routes and manage your own week. We'll tell you what the target is, not how to spend Tuesday.
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Assets (not required)
Experience selling construction software, building materials, or tools to contractors
Familiarity with the BC residential construction industry
Prior field sales, canvassing, or event experience
Compensation & Terms
Part time, field-based — approximately 15–20 hours per week, flexible scheduling
$30.00 per hour, plus performance-based bonus tied to qualified sign-ups
Mileage and mobile allowance
Initial 60-day term with a formal performance review; strong performers will be offered an extended engagement with expanded compensation
We're open to discussing the working arrangement and compensation structure with the right candidate
Why this is worth your time
You'll be the first commercial hire at a company that's already generating revenue. You'll see the entire go-to-market motion up close, and your field data will directly shape what we build and how we price it. If you want to learn how a product actually finds its market — not read about it — this is a rare seat.
