Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Field Technician I to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of technology and low-voltage systems at customer locations. The successful candidate will assist with structured cabling, fiber optics, security systems, wireless technologies, point-of-sale (POS) equipment, digital displays, and other technical infrastructure while delivering excellent customer service and adhering to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, test, and repair technical equipment and systems at client sites.
- Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, inspections, and system upgrades.
- Install and support structured cabling, fiber optic networks, and low-voltage infrastructure.
- Assist with deployment and maintenance of access control, CCTV, surveillance, and security systems.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot wireless networking equipment, antennas, and signal-boosting systems.
- Deploy and support POS terminals, payment devices, peripherals, and related technologies.
- Install and configure digital signage, displays, audio-visual equipment, kiosks, and media systems.
- Document service activities, maintenance records, and technical findings.
- Provide on-site customer support, basic user training, and issue resolution.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
- Follow company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical education or certification is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of networking, structured cabling, fiber optics, electronics, security systems, or related technologies.
- Experience using hand tools, installation equipment, and diagnostic tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a field environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and work flexible schedules as required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with CAT5e/CAT6 cabling, fiber optic testing, CCTV, access control, wireless systems, POS technologies, and digital signage.
- Understanding of industry best practices and low-voltage installation standards.
