Therefore, we are currently in search of a skilled Embedded Systems Firmware Developer to join our team at our Calgary location. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in programming using Embedded C, with a focus on platforms like the ESP32.

We are seeking a candidate who can dive right into the role, and as such, previous demonstrable experience and a track record of successful projects are prerequisites.

Role Overview

You will design and develop firmware across the full embedded stack—from low-level drivers to application logic—while ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. This role requires strong hardware understanding and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

- Develop firmware in Embedded C (ESP32, FreeRTOS)
- Build modular, event-driven systems (FSM)




- Work across drivers, middleware, and application layers
- Integrate with hardware (schematics, PCB debugging)
- Implement networking (TCP/IP, MQTT) and device communication (UART, SPI, I2C)
- Handle OTA updates and secure communication
- Test, debug, and maintain production firmware

Requirements

- Strong Embedded C experience
- ESP32 or STM32 + FreeRTOS
- Solid embedded system architecture knowledge
- Hardware debugging (schematics, PCB)
- Experience with common protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, TCP/IP, MQTT)
- Proven shipped products

Nice to have

- AWS IoT Core
- TDD
- BLE / ESP-NOW / DMX

Qualifications

- Electrical/Computer Engineering or CS degree (or equivalent experience), P.Eng is an asset
