- Clariti builds software that helps local governments modernize permitting and community development. Every new customer arrives with a decade of legacy data, an incumbent system to migrate off, and legal time limits that cannot reset
- Historically, implementations in this industry are slow, manual, and consulting-heavy. We’re building a fundamentally different way of implementing: engineering-led, tooling-driven, and measured in weeks instead of months
- You are our first Forward Deployed Engineer. You will define the role, the playbook, and the bar for everyone who follows. You will report directly to the CTO
- Work alongside the Implementation Consultant to triage requirements into configurations, new functionality or custom code as needed. Understanding the trade-off for each category and prioritizing scalability and reusability
- Work with our SaaS platform development team to define new functionalities so they are ready for go-live
- Own the technical side of new customer onboarding end to end: legacy data extraction, field and workflow mapping, transformation authoring, staging dry-runs, delta review with the customer, and production cutover with full data-integrity guarantees
- Sit with city staff, clerks, and building officials; translate how a jurisdiction actually operates into product configuration; case types, workflows, fees, templates, permissions
- Write real code: migration transformations, integration adapters (GIS/parcel, payments, SSO via SAML/OIDC), and one-off extraction tooling against legacy systems
- Run point on customer-side technical stakeholders: IT directors, GIS teams, security reviews, SSO setup with municipal Entra/Okta tenants
- Be the loudest feedback channel in the company: every manual workaround you perform becomes a spec for tooling or product capability, not tribal knowledge
- Build the FDE playbook (runbooks, mapping templates, extraction scripts, estimation models) so hires two through five ramp ups in days
- Use AI coding agents as a first-class part of the job; our engineering organization is AI-native and we expect implementation work to be too
- What Success looks in one year:
- A cohort of customers implemented under the new model, live with zero data-integrity incidents and fully auditable migrations
- Implementation timelines cut dramatically against our historical baseline, and measured
- A repeatable FDE playbook that lets us hire the second FDE against a defined bar
- A steady stream of tooling and product improvements shipped from your field reports
Benefits
- Flexible Work Culture
- Career development
- Team Building Events/Outings
- Motivated Team
- Corporate Bonus Plan- Genuine comfort in front of non-technical government customers; you can run a data-mapping sign-off with a city clerk and a security review with their IT director on the same day
- Strong TypeScript; comfortable in Python for throwaway extraction tooling
- Willing to travel to customer sites as needed
- Experience being the first of a function and building the playbook
- Strong understanding of LLMs and agentic automations
- 5+ years as a software engineer, with at least 2 in a customer-facing deployment role (FDE, solutions architect, solutions engineer at a data-heavy company, or implementation engineer who writes production code, not a configurator)
- Judgment about the bespoke-vs-repeatable line: you know when to hack it and when to turn it into tooling everyone uses
- Integration depth: SSO (SAML/OIDC), REST/webhooks, ideally GIS (Esri/parcel data) and payments
- Govtech, regtech, or other compliance-heavy vertical SaaS experience; you understand why a permit’s legal review clock can never reset during a migration
- Strong SQL and data-migration instincts: you’ve untangled an undocumented legacy schema and gotten the data out clean, with an audit trail
- Heavy, sophisticated use of AI coding agents in real delivery work
- Palantir/Scale/Retool-style FDE background, tempered with product-company instincts
