About the Role:

At Scholars Education Centre West Springs, we know that language learning isn't just about grammar rules and vocabulary lists—it's about confidence, connection, and encouragement. Learning or studying in French can often feel intimidating, frustrating, or overwhelming for students. The ability to build trust and form a genuine personal connection is what helps our students push through language barriers and thrive.

We are seeking a Bilingual French Tutor who can fluently navigate between English and French while creating an inviting, supportive workplace. Whether helping a French Immersion student master reading comprehension, guiding a Francophone student through complex literacy, or helping a French as a Second Language (FSL) student build foundational vocabulary, you aren't just marking worksheets—you are building confidence and making French accessible.

What You’ll Do:

- Connect & Build Confidence: Form genuine relationships with students across various age groups, helping them overcome language anxiety and feel comfortable taking risks in French.
- Adapt Across Programs: Seamlessly pivot your instruction to support students in French Immersion, Francophone schools, and French as a Second Language (FSL) courses.
- Support Core Subjects in French: Assist French Immersion and Francophone students with subject matter taught in French (Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts).
- Simplify & Enrich: Break down complex French grammar, pronunciation, and sentence structures into easy-to-understand steps, finding alternative ways to explain concepts when a student gets stuck.
- Deliver Results:



Teach in a low-ratio environment using Scholars’ proven methodology, ensuring every student receives active guidance, mentorship, and equal attention.
- Celebrate Progress: Track student growth meticulously, offering genuine encouragement to foster long-term motivation and pride in their bilingual journey.

What We Are Looking For:

- Bilingual Fluency: Exceptional oral and written communication skills in both French and English, with the ability to switch languages smoothly to support both students and non-French-speaking parents.
- Curriculum & Stream Knowledge: Ability to support French Immersion, Francophone, and FSL curricula across elementary, junior high, or high school grade levels.
- Relational Intelligence: A natural ability to connect with students, build trust quickly, and coach kids who feel disengaged, overwhelmed, or lacking confidence in French.
- Adaptive Teaching: Creative problem-solving skills to explain a language or curriculum concept in multiple ways until it truly clicks for the learner.
- Structure & Detail: Excellent organizational skills to manage up to 3 students at a time effectively while delivering individualized support.
- Experience: Previous experience tutoring, teaching, or working with children and youth in a bilingual or French-language setting is strongly preferred.

Availability Requirements:

Must be able to work a minimum of two shifts per week within our operational hours:

- Monday – Thursday: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Friday: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Pay: $21.00-$22.00 per hour
