We are a private elementary school now hiring a part-time French teacher to provide on-site French instruction to elementary school students from preschool to Grade 6. The school accommodates occasional online learners and all classes are equipped to support both in-person and online synchronous learners. Class sizes are approximately 8-12 in-person students.

We offer a combination of traditional project-based and individual approaches for all subjects, including French. Materials and training are provided and the teacher may provide supplementary materials available online or other resources to ensure individual student needs are met. The French teacher contract position is available for September 2026 to June 2027.

Responsibilities

- Provide in-person instruction to build strong written and verbal French skills, communicating in both French and English for English student learners.
- Provide in-person instruction, with the flexibility to accommodate occasional online learners if / when requested.
- Provide regular testing to ensure students demonstrate proficiency for their grade level, as outlined in the Ontario curriculum,



and continue to provide enrichment for grade-level learning.
- Provide individualised learning within each grade for students when necessary.
- Prepare report cards and conduct parent-teacher interviews.
- Prepare students to demonstrate grade-level proficiency in French through performances for spring and Christmas concerts.
- Demonstrate strong teaching skills through communication, patience, understanding, approachability, and excellent rapport with students.

Screening requirements:
- Must be currently eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be in close proximity to the school for in-person instruction.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
