Front Desk Receptionist

Are you organized, friendly, dependable, and comfortable working in a busy creative environment?
Blue Aura Tattoo & Piercing Studio is looking for an experienced Front Desk Receptionist to help manage client communication, bookings, payments, jewelry sales, and the daily flow of our studio.
You will be the first person clients interact with when they enter the studio, call us, or contact us online. We are looking for someone who can create a welcoming and professional experience while keeping the front desk organized and supporting our artists and piercers throughout the day.
Please Note
This position is intended for someone who already possesses strong customer-service, communication, and organizational skills and can confidently apply them within a tattoo and piercing studio setting.
This is not an entry-level position. Applicants should have previous customer-service, reception, retail, hospitality, or comparable professional experience. Familiarity with tattoo and piercing culture is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and maintain a welcoming, calm, and professional studio environment.
- Answer phone calls, emails, direct messages, and general client inquiries.
- Assist with tattoo and piercing bookings, deposits, appointment changes, and studio policies.
- Process payments, jewelry purchases, deposits, and client checkouts.
- Help clients select and purchase body jewelry, and relay that information to the body piercers
- Manage walk-ins and communicate expected wait times.
- Complete client intake procedures and ensure required information and consent forms are collected.
- Attend to clients and help them feel comfortable during their time in the studio.
- Keep the front desk, waiting area, and jewelry displays clean, organized, and presentable.
- Restock front-desk, aftercare, and general studio supplies as needed.
- Communicate clearly with tattoo artists, piercers, management, and clients.
- Help coordinate client flow during busy days, flash events, and studio sales.
- Support artists and piercers with reasonable front-desk and client-service needs.
- Troubleshoot booking, payment, and client-service issues professionally.
- Protect client privacy and handle confidential information responsibly.

This Position May Not Be a Good Fit If
- You are uncomfortable with frequent in-person client interaction, phone calls, bookings, payments, or managing walk-ins.
- You have no previous customer-service, reception, retail, or similar professional experience.
- You have little familiarity with tattoos, body piercings, or studio environments.
- You strongly prefer a quiet or highly predictable workplace.
- You have difficulty multitasking or adjusting when priorities change.
- You are uncomfortable enforcing studio policies or professionally handling frustrated clients.
- You cannot maintain reliable attendance or arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
Tattoo studios are dynamic environments with constant movement, conversations, and changing priorities. The front desk plays an important role in keeping the studio organized and ensuring that both clients and artists are properly supported.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous customer-service experience is required.
- Reception, front-desk, retail, or hospitality experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling, or booking software is preferred.
- Experience in a tattoo studio, piercing studio, salon, or similar environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of tattoos, body piercings, jewelry, and aftercare is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills is a must.
Practical experience, reliability, and customer-service ability are valued more than formal education.
