Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Construction Labourer to assist skilled tradespersons and perform general labouring activities at construction sites. The successful candidate will work as part of a construction team and perform duties involving the handling of materials, site preparation, construction support, equipment assistance and site cleanup.

Responsibilities

- Assist with site preparation, material handling, and cleanup to maintain a safe and organized work environment

- Support carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople in executing their tasks efficiently

- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment under supervision to complete assigned duties

- Follow blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to aid in accurate project execution

- Perform concrete finishing, tile laying, flooring installation, and masonry work as directed

- Help with demolition, restoration projects, and the installation of cabinetry or fixtures

- Adhere strictly to safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and site safety procedures

Duties and Responsibilities The General Construction Labourer will perform some or all of the following duties:

- Load and unload construction materials and move materials to designated work areas.

- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites.

- Mix, pour and spread construction materials such as concrete and asphalt.

- Assist skilled tradespersons, including carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, roofers and glaziers, with construction activities.





- Assist heavy equipment operators by securing special attachments to equipment, signalling operators to guide equipment movement and providing assistance with related activities.

- Level earth to fine-grade specifications using rakes and shovels.

- Assist with demolition activities using prying bars and other tools and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials.

- Remove rubble and other construction debris using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment.

- Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed.

- Tend or feed construction machines and equipment, including mixers, compressors and pumps.

- Clean construction work areas and perform site cleanup activities.

- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants and remove hazardous materials, including asbestos, when properly trained and authorized to perform such work.

- Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment.

- Perform other general construction-site activities as directed.

Requirements

- Previous experience for at least 1 year as a General Construction Labourer or in a similar construction labour position is an asset.

- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling construction materials and equipment.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and skilled tradespersons.

- Ability to work in various outdoor and construction-site conditions.

- Ability to safely use basic hand tools and construction equipment as required.

- Willingness to receive on-the-job training.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
