Regional General Manager

Location: Yellowknife, NT

Type: Full time (Permanent)

Compensation: $130,000+ (commensurate with experience)

Reports To: COO

MATRIX is a national company providing camps, logistics, and aviation management services to clients in the resource and service sectors. Yellowknife is our regional hub for Northern Operations, supporting mining exploration camps with expediting, people movement, and supply chain management. Safety and service quality are our top priorities.

Role Overview The Regional General Manager will oversee ongoing operations and procedures at our Yellowknife location to meet client deliverables. You will lead and develop a high-performance team, drive continuous improvement through strong project and change management, and ensure a productive, safety-first workplace.

Key Responsibilities

People & Safety Leadership

- Lead and manage personnel in Yellowknife; coach, mentor, and build team performance
- Maintain a positive work environment and strong internal accountability
- Lead workplace safety management and operational readiness

Operational & Financial Oversight
- Own operational planning, execution of new projects, and delivery against client requirements
- Manage budgeting, cost tracking, expense audits, and regional billing
- Oversee staff scheduling and facility management
- Manage scope changes and ensure project tracking and reporting

Project, Risk & Quality Management
- Lead project risk management (cost, quality, schedule, scope) and mitigation planning
- Ensure quality assurance by tracking deliverables per client contracts




- Develop and execute action plans to resolve remote camp issues

Camp Logistics / Supply Chain Oversight (with Logistics Coordinator)
- Oversee remote camp supply chain management: shipping/receiving (equipment, machinery, groceries, core samples)
- Remote camp preparation/deployment, crew changes, asset management, warehousing, and procurement support
- Emergency Response Plan activation and coordination

Client & Vendor Management
- Maintain strong client and vendor relationships; communicate transparently and professionally

Requirements
- High-level computer literacy
- 7–10+ years progressive operations management / leadership experience
- Senior leadership experience balancing strategy with a hands-on operational approach
- Proven planning ability at both strategic and operational levels
- Demonstrated leadership: team building, collaboration, coaching/mentoring, cultural transformation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to build internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Decision-making with sound judgment and business acumen
- Must understand and have experience working within remote camp environments
- Project management training/experience is considered an asset
- Familiarity with the trucking and/or aviation industry is considered an asset
