Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Governance Coordinator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate governance activities among the four Northern Secwepemc communities in the modern-day treaty process. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will help in the transition process of these communities to self-government.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to development of NStQ communities’ Governance Transition planning
- Supports Treaty Team by providing information, strategic advice and reference material on relevant issues
- Contributes to consultation with members of the community, Leadership, Elders
- Communicates progress to Treaty Team, Leadership Council, NStQ community leaders and members
- Advises on Governance issues NStQ Treaty Team, Leadership Council, Northern Secwepemc Communities
- Provides technical assistance to NSTS Treaty Manager and NStQ Community Treaty Teams regarding advancement of self-government
- Aids in organization of NStQ Leadership Council and transition planning for council
- Organizes training/communications/consultation events concerning NStQ Governance
- Develops and maintains work plans for Governance Transition
- Participates, organizes and presents to Community consultation events as requested Attends and reports on scheduled meetings
- Organizes meetings and events
- Works with staff members to communicate Governance information (booklets, posters, presentations)
- Prepares presentation and briefing materials related to NStQ Governance and Self-Government
- Maintains strict confidentiality of Treaty and Governance information
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document minutes to ensure clear communication of decisions and action items.
- Manage records management systems, ensuring accurate filing, retrieval, and security of organizational documents.
- Maintain databases using Microsoft Access or SharePoint to organize governance-related data efficiently.
- Requirements
- Proven experience in administrative roles or governance coordination with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; familiarity with Microsoft Project and SharePoint is a plus.
- Proven team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of BC First Nations Governance landscape and Contemporary-day treaty process
- Planning and Organizational skills
- Event Planning experience
- Analytical Thinker
- Knowledge of Secwepemc lands and culture
- Familiarity with BC First Nations history
- Demonstrated understanding of laws, constitutions and legal language
- Strong administrative and time management skills

Pay: $29.67-$33.66 per hour
