About us:

Spaces & Experiences (S&E;) is a self-funded division of the University which operates housing, hospitality and campus services on the St. George campus, while supporting tri-campus development of revenue generating assets. The primary activities of the division include student and faculty housing, transportation, conferences & events, innovation space that supports commercialization of research, commercial and academic leasing, real estate acquisitions, food &beverage; services and trademark licensing.

The S&E; team also leads the underwriting of new development opportunities, and the evaluation of joint-venture partnerships (e.g., housing, retail, innovation space), while seek to generate financial returns to support the academic mission of the university.

Your opportunity:

The U of T Spaces & Experiences Marketing and Communications team consists of brand, web, media, design, and social media experts who support all S&E; business streams, with a strong focus on brand development and marketing and communications strategies and tactics. The team is highly collaborative with our S&E; business unit partners to ensure the achievement of various business objectives. The team is hiring a full-time Graphic Designer for a term who will help the creative team meet the many and varied design needs of S&E;, by creating and producing graphic designs.

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Marketing& Communications – Creative Lead, the incumbent provides strategic and tactical design support to the S&E; portfolio and its various business areas that support business objectives and communicate clearly and effectively with our core target audience.

Your responsibilities will include:

Creating and producing graphic designs that reflect departmental and/or divisional objectives

Consulting with and advising clients on graphic design

Liaising with creative professionals and vendors to coordinate production activities

Designing graphic elements for digital and online media

Verifying that all marketing/communication collateral adheres to brand identity and University style guides





Fostering positive relationships with clients

Essential Qualifications:

Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in Creative Arts, Media Arts or other disciplines relevant to the position, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience

Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in graphic design

Experience performing design processes that require great precision and attention to many details

Experience producing promotional and outreach materials

Demonstrated experience liaising with suppliers to ensure goods are delivered in a timely manner

Experience providing art direction for social media, photography and video production that supports the target objectives of the audience and visual appearance. Photography and video (filming and editing) experience is also an asset.

Experience maintaining a digital asset management system

Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, empathy, sound judgment and discretion

Excellent customer service skills providing detailed information and providing assistance and support to clients/customers

Demonstrated ability to tackle multiple overlapping tasks

Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment

Excellent communications (oral and written) skills

Advanced computer skills (Adobe creative suite, Microsoft Office, social media platforms)

Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines

Experience implementing and understanding AODA requirements in design To be successful in this role you will be:
