Overview

We are seeking a friendly, experienced, and creative Head Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, hospitality, and delivering an exceptional customer experience while creating a welcoming workplace for all guests.

This is a hands-on leadership role that includes beverage preparation, supporting daily café operations, training team members, and contributing to the development of new drinks, seasonal beverages, and recipes. As part of a collaborative café environment, the Head Barista should also be comfortable supporting other areas of service and food preparation when needed to help ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate is adaptable, dependable, and comfortable working a variety of shifts, including opening and closing shifts.

Duties

- Prepare high-quality espresso drinks, specialty teas, and other beverages with consistency and attention to detail.
- Ensure excellence in every cup, including dialing in espresso, measuring shots, and maintaining beverage standards.
- Take a leadership role in daily coffee and beverage operations.
- Train and mentor team members in beverage preparation, coffee knowledge, service standards, and café procedures.
- Develop and test new drink recipes, including seasonal and specialty beverages, while contributing creative ideas to the menu.
- Monitor beverage quality and ensure recipes and presentation remain consistent across the team.
- Assist with inventory, stocking, product organization, and identifying items that need to be reordered.
- Provide warm, welcoming service and help create a positive café experience for every guest.
- Be comfortable completing both opening and closing responsibilities and ensuring the café is properly prepared for the next shift.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, counters,



and guest spaces in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Manage time effectively and help coordinate workflow during busy periods.
- Handle cashier responsibilities, including taking orders, processing transactions, and providing accurate change.
- Work collaboratively across different areas of the café to maintain efficient and smooth operations.

Requirements

- 2–5 years of café or specialty coffee experience, with leadership or management experience preferred.
- Strong barista skills and knowledge of coffee and beverage preparation; specialty tea experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of espresso extraction, brewing techniques, drink preparation, and café equipment.
- Experience developing or experimenting with beverage recipes is an asset.
- Knowledge of POS systems is a Plus.
- Passion for coffee, hospitality, creativity, and building a positive café culture.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability and willingness to train, mentor, and support other team members.
- Adaptable and team-oriented, with a willingness to assist in different areas of café operations when needed.
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible availability and ability to work a variety of shifts, including opening, closing, weekends, and other shifts based on operational needs.
- Reliable transportation to ensure consistent and dependable attendance.
