Job Summary

We are a unionized company, seeking a Level 1 -4 Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our team working primarily from our Abbotsford shop. You will work under direct supervision of the lead hand company mechanic. Some offsite job site field work is required.

The ideal candidate should be registered with Trades BC, have a minimum 1-4 years experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, wheel loaders and a variety of asphalt paving equipment. The ability and willingness to work effectively with others is essential.

Upon completion of all apprenticeships levels and meeting Trades BC requirements, this position will lead to Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.

Duties

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in construction equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various types of industrial equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
- Utilize schematics to understand equipment layouts and electrical systems for effective repairs.
- Conduct assembly and disassembly of machinery components as needed.
- Execute welding tasks for repairs or modifications to equipment structures.




- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on equipment.

Requirements

- Proven apprentice mechanic experience with heavy equipment repairs, including but not limited to Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu and other manufacturers.
- Mechanical knowledge with solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical and diesel engine systems.
- Maintain accurate service, repair and inspection records.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75lbs to perform job duties.
- Electrical experience is an asset for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Valid driver's license minimum class 5, driver's abstract will be required.
- Must have own tools
- Willingness to work with others and under the supervision and direction of company mechanics
- Operate and maintain a company supplied service truck.
- Follow all company safety policies and protocol.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $31.26-$40.88 per hour
