Heavy Equipment Operator - Non-regular Term

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for non-regular term Instructor in the Heavy Equipment Operator Program. The appointment will commence as soon as possible and end December 11, 2026 (Subject to funding approval). Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor scale. Duties: The Instructor will facilitate learning and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure program safety during equipment operation and practical instruction, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required

Qualifications

Qualifications: Heavy Equipment Operator Journeyperson (preferred) or a Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate of Qualification with the SkilledTradesBC and Grade 12 or equivalent. A valid Class 1 Driver’s license is an asset.



Experience should include a minimum of 5 years’ varied field experience as a Journeyperson and 5 years in a supervisory capacity. A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience is preferred.

- A valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners of all ages
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
- Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a team-oriented team environment
- Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
- Intermediate computer skills (word processing, excel, email)
