House Assistant
Location: Victoria, British Columbia
Full-time, 40 hours/week
Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
The posted salary range reflects varying levels of experience, from emerging professionals to those with several years of relevant experience. While the full range represents the potential earnings for the role, it is not typical for new hires to start at the top of the range. Placement within the range is based on qualifications, experience, and alignment with internal equity.
Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced House Assistant for a semi-formal residence located in Victoria, BC. The successful applicant will work closely with the Household Manager in supporting the seamless operation of a large private residence and additional properties. This position is full-time, live-out. Work hours are generally between 10am – 6pm Wednesday-Sunday, with some flexibility required.
Candidate Profile:
You are an experienced and knowledgeable house assistant professional with a proven track record in residential and hospitality environments. Proactive, detail-oriented, and exceptionally discreet, you possess an intuitive ability to anticipate the needs of principals and guests while upholding the highest standards of household care, service, and privacy. You excel at working independently or as a collaborative counterpart to the Household Manager, handling everything from meticulous housekeeping, fine fabric laundry, and wardrobe management to inventory tracking, property inspections, and delicate surface care for antiques and fine artwork.
With strong interpersonal and communication skills, a valid driver's license, and basic culinary or food-secure experience including providing meal prep, serving, and cook coverage when needed, you bring seamless support, adaptability, and smooth execution to every aspect of daily household operations and seasonal demands.
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed housekeeping duties for the main residence and guest suites, maintaining consistency and precision in alignment with the Principal’s standards.
Provide support in household scheduling, upkeep, and daily readiness of the property as directed by the Household Manager.
Prepare the main residence and guest suites for visitors, ensuring guest needs are anticipated and fulfilled.
Attend to laundry services including ironing, pressing, steaming, folding, and stain removal for clothing, linens, and fine fabrics.
Maintain organized closets and storage spaces, ensuring seasonal rotation and readiness.
Manage household inventories (linens, bedding, towels, dishware, serving ware, cleaning products, etc.) and communicate replenishment needs to the Household Manager.
Assist with meal planning, preparation, serving, and clean-up, including full coverage for the Cook during absences.
Coordinate grocery shopping and household errands in partnership with the Household Manager.
Manage indoor plant care and liaise with external vendors for floral arrangements.
Oversee household garbage, compost, and recycling programs including curbside and off-site drop-offs.
Conduct weekly inspections of the property to identify and report maintenance needs to the Household Manager and property manager.
Care for fine furnishings, antiques, and artwork using appropriate methods for delicate materials.
Looking after dogs.

Good communication skills and professional personal presentation

Must be comfortable lifting 30 pounds
Excellent housekeeping, and laundry; correct use of products and methods for fine finishes and surfaces
Must maintain privacy and confidentiality always, exercising diplomacy, discretion and respecting appropriate boundaries
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada A valid driver’s license is an asset
