Summary:

The HSE Advisor supports the company's health, safety, and environmental programs across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia while working closely with the NCSO Safety Manager, operations management, supervisors, and field personnel. This temporary 3-month contract position, with the possibility of extension, assists with field safety activities, COR audit preparation and execution, incident investigations, and continuous improvement of HSE systems. The successful candidate conducts inspections and audits, supports risk reduction initiatives, and helps foster a proactive safety culture that promotes safe, compliant, and effective operations throughout the organization.

Working under the direction of and in collaboration with the NCSO Safety Manager, the HSE Advisor assists in the delivery and continuous improvement of the company's HSE programs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Audits, Programs & Client Compliance:

- Assist with the planning, coordination, preparation, and execution of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia COR audits.
- Track audit findings and support the completion, documentation, and closure of corrective actions within required timelines.




- Support annual SECOR evaluations and ongoing certification requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and updating HSE manuals, procedures, risk assessments, and legislated program requirements.
- Support contractor prequalification platforms, including Avetta and ISNetworld.
- Assist with the development and review of client-specific HSE plans, questionnaires, and compliance documentation.
- Assist with maintaining safety statistics, records, and reporting systems to support internal and external requirements.
- Monitor the effectiveness of HSE programs and corrective actions through audit findings, field observations, and performance indicators, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and documentation for review by the NCSO Safety Manager and leadership team.

Field Safety:

- Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable legislation.
- Collaborate with the NCSO Safety Manager, supervisors, and workers to identify hazards and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Assist with the follow-up and verification of corrective actions arising from inspections, audits, observations, and incident investigations.

Work Environment: The HSE Advisor works closely with the NCSO Safety Manager and construction, trucking, roadbuilding,



and horizontal drilling operations to conduct inspections, worker observations, audits, and incident investigations. The role involves working in active industrial environments and collaborating with management, supervisors, and workers to support regulatory compliance, hazard management, COR audit requirements, and the continuous improvement of the company's HSE programs. This role will be primarily office-based.

Qualifications & Leadership:

Required:

- Minimum 3-5 years of Health, Safety & Environment experience in construction, trucking, roadbuilding, horizontal drilling, or similar industrial operations.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or conducting COR audits, internal audits, or compliance audits.
- Experience conducting inspections, safety observations, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
- Working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation in Alberta.
- Strong communication, organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software systems.

Assets:

- NCSO or another recognized safety designation is considered an asset but is not required.
- COR Auditor certification or strong knowledge of audit proceedings.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan and British Columbia safety legislation is considered an asset.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience supporting multi-provincial operations.
