Position Summary The HSE Field Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining and advancing A&H; Steel’s safety culture by developing, implementing, and supporting health, safety, and environmental programs across the organization. This role ensures compliance with OH&S; legislation, WCB regulations, and internal safety standards through accurate documentation, thorough incident reporting, and timely corrective actions. Acting as a trusted resource and coach, the HSE Field Coordinator builds strong relationships across worksites, facilitates safety training, and supports continuous improvement through analysis and feedback.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities and Outcomes:

Safety Program Implementation and Culture Building

- A consistent and proactive safety culture is embedded across all job sites.
- Safety procedures and programs (e.g., JHAs, policies) are current, standardized, and effectively implemented company-wide.

- All employees and contractors demonstrate awareness of and adherence to safety expectations.
- Internal and external audit results show continuous improvement in safety program performance.

Compliance and Risk Mitigation

- All regulatory requirements (OH&S;, WHMIS, WCB, COR, etc.) are met or exceeded, with zero overdue actions.
- Training and certifications are fully up to date for all relevant employees, ensuring legal compliance and workplace readiness.

- Incident investigations lead to actionable learnings, and preventative measures are implemented effectively.
- Claims and reports (e.g., WCB, injury reports) are submitted accurately and within required timelines, with minimal rework.

Data-Driven Decision Making and Continuous Improvement

- Safety data is accurately tracked, analyzed, and reported on a regular basis to identify trends and support strategic decisions.
- Corrective actions stemming from audits, incidents, and inspections are completed and verified.

- Health and safety performance metrics show measurable improvements over time (e.g., reduced incident rates, improved audit scores).

Leadership Support and Employee Engagement
- Supervisors and front-line employees are supported and coached to take ownership of health and safety practices.





- Safety-related feedback loops are established and consistently used to drive improvements and recognize success.
- The HSE team is actively engaged in supporting site operations, with strong working relationships built across departments and locations.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge

- Knowledge of provincial Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g., OH&S;, WHMIS, WCB).
- Understanding of COR certification processes, audit preparation, and maintenance.

- Familiarity with industry-specific hazards and risk controls relevant to construction and industrial settings.
- Knowledge of incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.
- Understanding of modified work programs, injury management, and return-to-work protocols.

- Awareness of adult learning principles and effective training practices for safety topics.
- Proficiency in documentation and records management for safety programs.

Skills
- Ability to interpret safety data, identify trends, and recommend practical solutions.

- Can clearly and respectfully convey safety information to diverse audiences, including frontline staff and leadership.
- Capable of guiding others toward improved safety practices through on-the-job coaching and safety meetings.

Education and Experience: Note: A combination of education and experience outside of the standards below may also be considered.

Education

- High School Diploma.
- CSO (ACSA) or MSO designation (Required)

Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) role.
- Experience working with multi-site operations, field crews, or subcontractor management.
- Prior involvement in modified/return-to-work programs and injury claim coordination.
- Experience contributing to safety culture initiatives, employee engagement, or safety committee participation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment, with demonstrated understanding of field-level hazards and controls.
- Proven experience supporting or leading COR audits, including development and execution of corrective action plans.
- Hands-on experience with incident investigations, reporting, and regulatory submissions (e.g., WCB, OH&S;).
- Demonstrated involvement in the implementation or maintenance of safety programs, including training, documentation, and in office compliance.

Job Types: Full time, Permanent Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
