Cape Breton University (CBU) is seeking a dedicated and organized Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. This full time, continuing position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a collaborative university community while supporting key human resources initiatives and services across the institution. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the HR Coordinator supports the delivery of human resources services across Cape Breton University, with responsibility for an assigned client portfolio within LearnCorp International (LCI). As a member of the CBU Human Resources team, this role supports the delivery of Human Resource services across CBU by providing operational, administrative, project support across a variety of HR functions. Working collaboratively with the HR Team, the role supports the implementation of HR programs, processes, and initiatives while helping to ensure a responsive, service-oriented approach to human resources service delivery.

This role serves as the primary HR contact for LCI, supporting workforce growth, talent acquisition, onboarding, HR administration, policy development, and employee experience initiatives. Through this portfolio-based approach, the role helps strengthen HR service delivery across both organizations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

LearnCorp International Portfolio Support

LCI HR Coordination

- Serve as the primary Human Resources coordination contact for assigned LearnCorp International leaders and employees.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders to identify workforce needs, recruitment priorities, onboarding requirements, and operational HR initiatives.
- Attend regular planning meetings with LCI leadership to establish priorities and monitor HR-related deliverables.
- Coordinate employee lifecycle activities including recruitment, onboarding, transfers, compensation changes, leaves, and departures.
- Support the creation of employment contracts, letters, forms, and other HR documentation.
- Provide guidance and support regarding HR processes, forms, policies, and administrative procedures.
- Maintain confidential employee records and documentation in accordance with privacy and record retention requirements.
- Assist with workforce planning initiatives associated with organizational growth, new contracts, and project-related staffing requirements.
- Support administrative processes related to employees working across multiple jurisdictions and geographic locations.

LCI Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Coordinate recruitment processes from workforce planning through onboarding for assigned portfolios.
- Prepare and post job advertisements using appropriate recruitment channels.
- Support with developing candidate screening tools,



interview guides, evaluation materials, and recruitment documentation.
- Conduct candidate screening and coordinate interview schedules with hiring managers and interview committees.
- Complete reference checks and prepare hiring documentation.
- Support high-volume and project-based recruitment initiatives.
- Assist with domestic and international recruitment initiatives as required.
- Maintain recruitment records, applicant tracking systems, and relevant hiring metrics.
- Coordination, processing, and securement of work visas for employees on international work assignments.

LCI Onboarding, Employee Experience & Policy Development
- Coordinate onboarding programs and resources for new employees.
- Ensure employees receive required orientation information, documentation, training resources, and system access.
- Assist in the review, development, and maintenance of employee handbooks, policies, procedures, and employee communications.
- Develop and update HR resource materials, guides, templates, and supporting documentation.

Cape Breton University HR Operations & Administration

- Maintain employee information within Dayforce and other HR systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
- Support the creation of employment contracts, letters, forms, and other HR documentation.
- Assist with employee benefits administration and related employee communications.
- Assist with compensation administration, position management, and data entry.
- Generate reports and perform data analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Maintain confidential employee records and documentation in accordance with privacy and record retention requirements.
- Support payroll-related processes, audits, and information gathering as required.
- Assist with departmental budgeting, tracking, and administrative processes.
- Assist with coordination of training events, meetings including ordering meals and booking rooms.

Employee Relations Development & HR Project Support
- Support HR leadership with employee relations matters including documentation preparation, research, meeting coordination, and file management.
- Support activities related to workplace investigations, performance management, accommodations, conflict resolution, and other employee relations processes as assigned.
- Conduct legislative, policy, and best-practice research to support Human Resources initiatives.




- Gain exposure to labour relations activities within a multi-union environment.
- Participate, coordinate, and support HR projects and strategic initiatives designed to improve organizational effectiveness.
- Support the Human Resources Department with a wide range of initiatives, projects, administration, and operational activities as required.

General
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all employee, organizational, and business information.
- Represent Human Resources in a professional, service-oriented manner.
- Be an innovation champion helping evaluate and re-design antiquated processes and practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

- Diploma and/or degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, or Human Resources).
- Minimum of two years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating recruitment and onboarding activities.
- Experience working with HRIS platforms; Dayforce experience is considered a strong asset.
- Experience supporting policy development, employee relations activities, compensation administration, or HR projects is considered an asset.
- CPHR designation, or progress toward designation, is considered an asset.
- Strong innovative mindset willing to explore pushing boundaries.
- Strong understanding of employment legislation, HR processes, and HR administration principles.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated customer service skills as well as ability to work quickly under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated openness to change and ability to work through uncertainty.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Co-Pilot and SharePoint.
- Ability to work independently while building strong relationships with leaders, employees, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated discretion and ability to manage confidential information.
- Demonstrated interest in developing a career in Human Resources with a focus on employee relations, labour relations, and strategic HR support is considered an asset.
