The HR & HSE Advisor / Business Partner plays a critical role in supporting leaders and employees across all areas of Human Resources, Health, Safety, and Organizational Effectiveness. The position serves as a trusted advisor to management and employees while helping foster a protected, engaged, productive, and high-performing workplace culture.

The role provides support on employee relations, recruitment, occupational health and safety, COR certification, and organizational HSE/HR initiatives. The role works collaboratively with ABCRC leaders to align HR and safety programs with organizational objectives.

KEY FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Human Resources Business Partnership

Employee Relations

· Provide support to leaders and employees regarding workplace concerns, conflict resolution, attendance management, performance management, policy interpretation, and employee engagement.

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

· Manage full-cycle recruitment activities including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and onboarding.

· Partner with hiring managers to identify workforce needs and talent acquisition strategies.

· Coordinate pre-employment requirements and onboarding activities.

· Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives.

HR Administration & Systems

· Maintain employment records and confidential HR files.

· Prepare employment-related documentation including offer letters, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, layoffs, and terminations.

· Conduct HR data audits and ensure accuracy of employee information.

· Prepare HR metrics, reports, and workforce analytics.

· Facilitate orientation programs for new employees.

Health, Safety & Environment

Safety Program Management

· Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ABCRC's Health and Safety Management System.

· Ensure compliance with Alberta OHS legislation, regulations, codes, and industry best practices.

· Review and update policies, safe work procedures, and safety programs.





Incident Management & Injury Prevention

· Lead and support incident investigations and root cause analyses.

· Track corrective actions and ensure timely completion.

· Manage workplace injury reporting and WCB administration.

· Coordinate modified work and return-to-work programs.

· Analyze incident trends and recommend prevention strategies.

Training & Safety Culture

· Coordinate and facilitate health and safety training programs.

· Promote safety awareness and employee engagement initiatives.

Inspections, Audits & Compliance

· Coordinate workplace inspections and compliance audits.

· Support COR certification and audit activities.

· Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and initiatives.

· Monitor corrective actions resulting from inspections, audits, and investigations.

· Assist operational teams with hazard assessments.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Required

· Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration, or related discipline.

· Minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, or a combined HR/HSE role.

· Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business applications; knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and their practical application to improve efficiency, reporting, analysis, and business processes is considered an asset.

· Valid driver's license and ability to travel between locations as required.

Preferred

· Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, WCB practices, and labour relations fundamentals.

· NCSO,



or equivalent safety designation.

· CPHR designation or eligibility.

· Experience in a unionized and manufacturing workplace.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This role is split working on the plant floor and at a desk, using office equipment and attending meetings. Occasional lifting of supplies and materials.

The position requires to work in varying temperatures due to the need to be on the plant floor and bay doors being open. The facility in the summer may experience heat and during the winters cold. The facility can also get dusty and noisy due to the constant movement of product and equipment. This role manages multiple priorities and tasks and may experience interruptions. The position requires excellent organizational and time management skills and precise attention to detail.

Employees must always remain vigilant due to constantly moving equipment, people, and products. Must demonstrate a proactive and solutions-driven approach to safety concerns. Adherence to workplace professionalism, including punctuality and avoidance of excessive phone usage is key.

Travel may be required to our Calgary facility from time to time. This shall be directed by the Health & Safety Manager.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
