Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Hydrogeologist to join our team. This Hydrogeologist will be primarily engaged in supporting the design, implementation, monitoring and optimization of dewatering and groundwater control systems.

The person selected for this role will evaluate subsurface and groundwater conditions, develop dewatering strategies, estimate groundwater inflows, support permitting and regulatory requirements, and provide technical assistance to estimating and field operations.

The successful candidate will combine strong hydrogeological knowledge and experience with practical understanding of construction methods, drilling, pumping systems, groundwater treatment, and field instrumentation.

This role requires the ability to transform hydrogeological information into practical, constructible and cost effective dewatering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Create Hydrogeological Assessments & Dewatering Designs
- Review geotechnical, hydrogeological, environmental, and construction documents to identify groundwater-related risks and requirements.
- Interpret borehole logs, monitoring well data, grain size analyses, hydraulic conductivity tests, pumping tests and groundwater level information.
- Develop conceptual hydrogeological models for construction excavations.
- Estimate groundwater inflows to excavations, shafts, trenches, tunnels, and other below grade structures.
- Assess soil and bedrock hydraulic properties and anticipated groundwater responses to pumping.
- Design and Recommend appropriate control systems such as; Wellpoint systems, Deep Wells, Eductor/Ejector Wells, Sump systems, Relief Wells, and others.




- Evaluate potential groundwater impacts including settlement, off-site draw down, migration of contaminants and impacts to nearby wells, structures, wetlands etc.
- Field Investigations and testing
- Construction and Operations support
- Estimating and Proposals review and support to project managers and estimators
- Permitting and Regulatory documentation preparation and applications
- Geotechnical Reporting including clear and concise reports, memoranda, dewatering plans, calculations and recommendations. Contour plans, hydrographs, pump test analyses and other summaries.

Core Competencies

- Working knowledge of groundwater hydraulics, aquifer mechanics, Darcy's Law, test data analysis, inflow calculations and other associated technical knowledge and skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Practical understanding of construction operations
- Strong technical writing and reporting skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and explain technical data to a variety of other professionals and tradespeople.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering ,



or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Master's Degree in hydrogeology or groundwater engineering an asset.

Qualified Designation

- Eligible for or registered as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or transferrable equivalent from another jurisdiction.
- Candidates working towards a professional designation may also be considered depending on experience.

Experience

- Approximately 3-7 years of relevant hydrogeological experience required.
- Experience with construction dewatering, groundwater control, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, drilling or groundwater investigation is strongly preferred.
- Experience conducting and interpreting hydrogeological and groundwater testing and related data preferred.
- Construction Experience is highly desireable.

Work Conditions

- On-Site both in the office and at various jobsites
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Valid Class G Driver's Licence
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions year round.
- Core daytime hours with requirement to be available outside of those hours as may be required by pump testing, systems commissioning or other job related requirements from time to time.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $84,259.74-$125,775.14 per year
