Job Overview The incumbent is assigned to serve as Community Learning (practicum placement) Coordinator, course instructor and student advisor for the Indigenous Bachelor of Social Work (IBSW) degree program. The incumbent will also participate in other program delivery, evaluation, and development activities such as career development, committee (College and Community) participation, curriculum development and representation of the program and College locally, provincially and nationally.

Responsibilities

- Ensuring all (IBSW) students have met admission requirements.

- Providing leadership to (IBSW) personnel, including revising curriculum, policy and program development, and reflection monitoring.

- Program development, and reflection monitoring.

- Liaising with the (OSCC) personnel and to ensure personnel and students adhere to the Academic Policies and Procedures.

- Working with current members of Canada National Indigenous Accreditation Board (NIAB) who are involved in Social Work Education programs, to improve the Community Learning experience.

- Supporting the Community Learning Liaison, Program Assistant and others as needed in their roles.

- Supporting the Community Learning Liaison in addressing Community Learning related issues.

- Providing mediation services for Community Learning related challenges as they arise, this provides the Community Learning Liaison with support.

- Offering information about Community Learning to students, the Community Learning Liaison, Community Learning facilitators, agencies and departments etc.

- Supporting the Community Learning students by offering Integrative Seminars.

- Coordinate all aspects of the IBSW Community Learning curriculum for successful experiential student social work practice and integration of learning.

- Provide community orientation to potential facilitators and students.

- Mentor Community Liaison to recruit, orient,



consult and problem-solve with Community Learning facilitators for suitable supervised experiential student practice experience.

- Teach IBSW Integrative Seminars as mutually agreed by consultation with the President or their designate, the IBSW Program Coordinator and other program instructors.

- Contribute regularly to course and program curriculum development including development, regular adapting and refinement of all forms, manuals, assessment tools and other relevant documentation (Specific to the Community Learning area).

- Develop, maintain, and enhance other professional collegial relationships essential for effective program delivery with Old Sun Community College Knowledge keepers, staff and students, Program Council members, past, present, an future program students, Siksika Nation Members and those of relevant provincial and national scope.

- Monitor and assess ongoing student behavior, progress and achievement and intervene as necessary according to College academic policies.

- Provide timely, consistently available and regular student advising.

- Ensure ongoing adherence of everyone participating in the program to College academic policies, especially those concerning student behavior, progress, suitability, and achievement.

- Contribute to research and consultations and contribute instructional-related documentation for the timely production and completion of all requirements for ongoing national program accreditation.

- Ensure ongoing alignment with the Alberta College of Social Workers Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and Competence Program.





- Complete and cooperative, collaborative, and collegial instructor self-evaluation.

- Undertake ongoing professional development for social work and educational best practices.

- Coordinate course development and delivery of IBSW students lacking courses to graduate

- Mentor Community Liaison with all aspects of duties and responsibilities entailed as the IBSW Community Learning Coordinator.

- Provide RSW Group Supervision.

- Perform other related duties as assigned by the President or their designate.

Requirements

- Highly developed knowledge of Siksika language, traditional and contemporary values, beliefs, practices and cultural protocols.

- Extensive knowledge of how to confront the impact of historical and contemporary colonialism and oppression of Indigenous peoples.

- Excellent relationship building skills.

- Consistently collaborative, cooperative, collegial and committed to consensual decision-making.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

- Trauma informed, inclusion-and equity-focused.

- A creative, holistic, critical thinker

- Highly organized and adept at multi-tasking an time management.

Education and Experience

- Completion of accredited Master of Social Work degree. May consider alternative Master Degree equivalency and including extensive Social Work experience/background.

- Professional counselling, therapeutic or direct social work practice experience with Siksika or other Indigenous peoples (minimum of 2 years).

- Direct experience of facilitating human development, healing and learning.

Professional Designation Certification Licenses

- Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Alberta College of Social Workers (or eligible for and committed to the ongoing designation).

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
