Reporting to the Manager of Information Systems, the Information Systems Lead is responsible for all aspects of System Management pertaining to the Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC) Healthcare and other related Information Systems, and providing supervision and support to the Information Systems staff.
Working in collaboration with the Manager of Information Systems, the incumbent oversees application configuration, customization, support, maintenance and expert user training for the software associated with the YHC Information Systems.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Thorough knowledge of current MEDITECH computer applications and processes;
- Knowledge of business processes, technologies and applications, and project management methods and techniques;
- Strong knowledge of other HCIS applications relevant to the YHC including but not limited to: OR scheduling, coding and abstracting, PACS, message broker systems, transcription systems, etc.;
- Valuable knowledge of multi-discipline, multi-site, and cross-departmental systems/applications and processes;
- Advanced skill in data research and business/systems analysis;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows applications;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing, presentation skills. Strong communication skills, relational, and a strong influencing skill set;
- Ability to provide core HCIS support in a complex and highly integrated MEDITECH environment;
- Ability to work effectively and interact with all levels of the organization including physicians, senior management, middle management, expert users, and frontline staff, as well as external vendors;
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and lead teams;
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, vendors, and external stakeholders;
- Ability to effectively work independently and in teams to meet deadlines;
- Ability to facilitate expert user training;
- Ability to understand and analyze complex information and problem solve;
- Ability to lead and to adapt to change management and process improvement;
- Problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, project management and time management;
- Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
A degree in either Health Informatics, Nursing or Information Systems plus five (5) or more years experience, preferably in a healthcare setting is required.
An equivalent combination of training and/or experience will be considered. The following experiences are desired in the successful candidate: Leadership/supervisory experience in an information systems operational team, Participation as a core team member for implementation of MEDITECH systems with extensive exposure to the key applications of the MEDITECH health care information systems: Administrative, Clinical, and Financial.
