Position Overview

Excel Career College is seeking an experienced and dedicated Pharmacy Technician Program Instructor to join our academic team. The Instructor will support students in developing the technical knowledge, professional skills, and practical competencies required for successful careers in pharmacy. This position is ideal for a pharmacy professional who is passionate about education, mentorship, and preparing the next generation of pharmacy technicians for the workforce.

Required Qualifications

- Current registration or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia (CPBC).
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent and relevant pharmacy practice experience.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy practice, medication safety, dispensing processes, and pharmacy operations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Commitment to student success and experiential, career-focused education.





Skills & Attributes The following qualifications and experience will be considered strong assets:

- Previous teaching experience in a Pharmacy Technician, pharmacy, healthcare, or health sciences program.
- Experience with practical/laboratory instruction.
- Experience in academic administration or program coordination.
- Familiarity with PTIRU requirements and private career training in British Columbia.
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) or an equivalent teaching credential.
- Experience mentoring students or new pharmacy professionals.
- Familiarity with current pharmacy technology and industry practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, laboratory activities, and practical instruction within the Pharmacy Technician curriculum.
- Prepare, review, and update lesson plans, teaching materials, presentations, assignments, and practical activities.
- Ensure instruction is aligned with program learning outcomes, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide students with hands-on learning opportunities that reflect current pharmacy practice.
- Teach pharmacy-related subjects, including pharmacy calculations, pharmacology, pharmacy operations,



dispensing processes, medication safety, compounding, and other areas relevant to the program.
- Demonstrate appropriate pharmacy procedures, techniques, equipment, and professional practices.
- Assess student learning through assignments, examinations, practical evaluations, and other approved assessment methods.
- Provide timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, assessment records, and other academic documentation.
- Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and support to students throughout their studies.
- Maintain a respectful, inclusive, professional, and student-centered learning environment.
- Identify students who may require additional academic support and communicate concerns to the appropriate academic staff.
- Stay current with developments in pharmacy practice, healthcare, technology, legislation, and industry standards.
- Participate in faculty meetings, career development activities, curriculum development, and other academic initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator, Academic Director, Campus Director, and administrative team as required.
- Maintain professional standards and confidentiality in all interactions with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
