About Us
The Department offers instruction in Mathematics at all levels. See the Undergraduate Program and Graduate Program pages for comprehensive information. The Department of Mathematics has established research groups in several areas of contemporary mathematics, including algebra, geometry, topology, analysis, and noncommutative geometry. These research groups and their activities are described in more detail ont he Department's Research page.
Responsibilities
The roles will operate as the Site Managers for the Math Hub. Primary duties include: receiving and orienting student visitors, opening and closing the site and other general site maintenance, tasks related to the administration of assessments on site, and scheduling of tutor hours.
Qualifications
Education
- University degree in Mathematics (preferred) or closely related area; MSc preferred
Experience:
- Previous service-related and tutoring experience strongly preferred
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users
- Ability to summarize information and disseminate to others effectively in a timely manner
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce high-quality work
- Demonstrated ability to coach and support learners, and to enable individuals to learn
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
