International Medical Graduate (IMG) – Clinical Assistant in Family Medicine & Women’s Health
We are seeking an International Medical Graduate (IMG) with a medical degree and previous clinical experience to join a busy family medicine practice in downtown Toronto.
This position is ideally suited to a physician who has trained internationally and is looking to gain meaningful Canadian clinical experience, strengthen their understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, and further develop their career in medicine.
The successful candidate will work closely with a highly experienced family physician with over 20 years of clinical experience and expertise in women’s health, perimenopause and menopause care. This is a hands-on learning environment where the candidate will have the opportunity to expand their clinical knowledge, improve their familiarity with Canadian medical practice, and gain valuable experience working alongside an experienced physician.
A background or strong interest in women’s health, gynecology, menopause care, preventive medicine, or primary care would be highly valued.
Responsibilities
Working under the direction and supervision of the physician, responsibilities may include:
- Obtaining detailed medical histories
- Medication reconciliation
- Reviewing and organizing previous medical records
- Preparing patients for physician assessment
- Gathering and documenting relevant clinical information
- Preparing clinical summaries for physician review
- Assisting with patient follow-up and recalls
- Providing lifestyle and preventive health education under physician direction
- Supporting chronic disease and preventive care
- Organizing laboratory and diagnostic results for physician review
- Supporting women’s health and menopause-related assessments
- Assisting with office procedures where appropriate and permitted
- Other clinical duties related to patient care
Qualifications
- Medical degree required
- International Medical Graduate seeking Canadian clinical experience
- Previous experience practising medicine outside Canada strongly preferred
- Strong general medical knowledge and clinical assessment skills
- Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, primary care, pediatrics or women’s health is an asset
- Women’s health or menopause experience is highly desirable
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Organized, reliable, professional and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working closely with a supervising physician and within a team
- Experience with the Canadian healthcare system or an EMR is an asset but not required
Position Details
- Approximately 24 hours per week
- 3–4 days per week
- Weekday schedule
- In-person position
- Downtown Toronto location
- Parking available
