Overview
The International Student Clerk, who reports to the Manager of The Faculty of Graduate Studies, is responsible for providing timely and accurate support to prospective and current international graduate students throughout the admissions process. The position responds to admissions inquiries, provides guidance on policies and procedures, supports application processing and deferrals, and serves as a point of contact for international agents.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, timely and accurate customer service to potential and current applicants.
- Respond appropriately to all types of inquiries related to international graduate admissions, over the telephone, via e-mails, or mail.
- Provide general guidance on published guidelines and explain policies, processes, and procedures.
- Assist in managing deferral requests.
- Respond to all applicant and student questions pertaining to admission criteria and the application process.
- Triage international applicant requests to correct staff members.
- Act as the Graduate Studies point of contact for international agents.
- Respond to agents requests for applicant status updates.
- Coordinate meetings with agents as required.
- Produce reports on agent application numbers.
- Open and process mail and assist the Admissions Officers by processing incoming transcripts, scanning documents, and verifying English language test scores.
- Support IRCC Letter of Acceptance verification to speak to authenticity of an Offer of Admission for immigration purposes.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree.
- Relevant office experience.
- Thorough understanding of international admissions, federal and provincial legislation as it relates to immigration and student visa applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, and admission requirements clearly.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive student and applicant information with discretion.
