Java Kafka Developer

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Java Kafka Developer to join our team in Calgary, AB. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java, Core Java, and Apache Kafka , with a solid understanding of backend application development, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Core Java .
- Develop and implement event-driven applications and messaging solutions using Apache Kafka .
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Develop Kafka producers and consumers and manage topics, partitions, offsets, and consumer groups.
- Troubleshoot application, integration, and Kafka-related issues.
- Write clean, efficient, reusable, and maintainable Java code.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
- Follow software development best practices, coding standards, and Agile methodologies.





Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Core Java .
- Solid experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
- Solid understanding of Java collections, multithreading, exception handling, and OOP concepts.
- Experience developing backend applications and REST APIs.
- Good understanding of distributed systems and messaging concepts.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework .
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker, or Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of professional Java development experience , with strong hands-on Kafka experience preferred.
