Position Summary:

As a member of the Service Team, the Fleet & Equipment Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upkeep of company fleet vehicles, and small-engine-powered tools. This includes, but is not limited to, service vehicles, plumbing equipment, drain cleaning machines, plumbing augers, pumps, generators, pressure washers, and other small-engine tools and equipment used by field technicians.

The Service Technician ensures equipment is protected, reliable, properly maintained, and ready for daily use. This position will diagnose mechanical and equipment issues, complete preventative maintenance and repairs, maintain service records, and support the field team by minimizing equipment downtime.

Key Accountabilities:

- Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on company fleet vehicles and service equipment.
- Maintains and repairs a variety of plumbing-related equipment and small-engine tools, including:

o Plumbing augers and drain cleaning machines. o Sewer and drain inspection equipment.

o Pumps and water transfer equipment.

o Generators.

o Pressure washers.

o Small engines and related power equipment.

o Hand-operated power tools and other equipment used by field technicians.

- Diagnoses mechanical and equipment problems, determines the cause of failures, and identifies the appropriate repair or replacement solution.
- Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance to identify potential problems before equipment failure occurs.
- Maintains company fleet vehicles, including service vans and trucks, and assists with basic mechanical maintenance and repairs as required.
- Ensures fleet vehicles and equipment are properly stocked, organized, clean, and ready for use.
- Maintains accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, parts used, and equipment history.
- Coordinates with suppliers and service providers when specialized repairs or parts are required.
- Monitors inventory of commonly required parts, tools, and equipment and communicates when replacements or additional supplies are required.




- Tests repaired equipment to ensure it is operating safely and effectively before returning it to service.
- Keeps the shop, storage areas, vehicles, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and maintained.
- Communicates equipment issues and maintenance requirements to management and field technicians in a timely manner.
- Assists with maintaining and improving preventative maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime and unexpected failures.
- Ensures all tools and equipment are used appropriately and maintained according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Maintains confidentiality and security of company, customer, and employee information.
- Follows all company Health & Safety policies and procedures and reports hazards, incidents, and near misses.
- Supports field technicians by responding to urgent equipment needs and helping ensure they have the tools and equipment required to complete their work.

- Journeyman Certified Automotive Service Technician with Red Seal.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in fleet maintenance, small-engine repair, mechanical repair, equipment maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience working with plumbing equipment, drain cleaning equipment, or small-engine-powered tools is considered an asset.
- Automotive, heavy-duty mechanic, small-engine technician, or related trade experience is considered an asset.

Required Certifications and/or Documentation:





- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence and Drive’s Abstract
- Criminal Record Check

Expected Skills and Attributes:

- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of fleet vehicles, small engines, mechanical systems, and power equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repair methods.
- Experience working with plumbing augers, drain machines, pumps, generators, pressure washers, and similar equipment is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize repairs based on urgency and operational requirements.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to equipment issues in a timely manner.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with field technicians, management, and suppliers.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email, Word, Excel, and equipment/service tracking systems.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Working Conditions

- Work is primarily performed in the warehouse, with occasional work at field locations.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and working in awkward positions.
- Exposure to dirt, oil, grease, fuel, cleaning products, dust, noise, and other mechanical and shop-related conditions.
- May occasionally require working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Some travel between company locations or field sites may be required.
- May require occasional evening, weekend, or after-hours work to address urgent fleet or equipment issues.
- Ability to safely lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must follow all applicable workplace safety requirements when working with vehicles, small engines, power tools, electrical equipment, fuels, and mechanical systems.
