Senior Journeyperson Plumber / Plumbing Department Lead
Full-Time | Field & Office Hybrid Role
We’re looking for something a little different than a typical Journeyperson Plumber.
We’re looking for an experienced plumber who has spent years in the trade, knows residential service plumbing inside and out, and is ready to use that experience to help shape and improve a growing plumbing department.
This is not a traditional management position.
You’ll still work in the field and stay connected to the trade. But part of your week will be spent working with our leadership team to improve how we price, quote and deliver plumbing work.
What the Role Looks Like
Approximately 70–80% of your time will be in the field, performing and supporting daveresidential plumbing work.
The remaining 20–30% will be dedicated to technical and department leadership, including:
- Helping develop and refine our flat-rate pricing structure
- Reviewing labour allowances and material requirements for common plumbing repairs and installations
- Bringing practical insight from your years working in the trade
- Helping us improve how we approach and price drainage work
- Reviewing jobs where actual field conditions don’t match our pricing assumptions
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
- Providing technical guidance to plumbers and apprentices
- Helping establish consistent standards and best practices across the department
- Working directly with company leadership to help build a stronger plumbing operation
Who We’re Looking For We’re specifically looking for someone with significant real-world experience.
Ideally, you have:
- Red Seal or BC Journeyperson Plumber certification
- 10+ years of plumbing experience
- Strong residential service plumbing experience
- Extensive drainage and troubleshooting experience
- Experience working within established flat-rate or service-pricing systems
- Exposure to more than one plumbing company or operating system during your career
- Strong understanding of labour requirements,
material costs and job complexity
- The ability to look at a job and realistically determine what it should take to complete
- Good communication skills and the ability to share your knowledge with others
- A practical, level-headed approach to solving problems
Previous supervisory experience is helpful, but not required. We’re more interested in your plumbing knowledge and judgement than the title you’ve held.
What This Role Is — and Isn’t
This isn’t about putting an experienced plumber behind a desk.
And it isn’t about hiring another layer of management.
We’re looking for someone who still enjoys working in the field but has accumulated enough experience to know what works, what doesn’t, what jobs really cost, and where plumbing companies tend to get themselves into trouble.
We want to put that experience to use.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence how our plumbing department operates while remaining an active member of the field team.
Compensation
$45–$52 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Plus company benefits and applicable employee programs.
For the right candidate with exceptional drainage, service and leadership experience, compensation can be discussed.
Why This Position?
If you’ve spent 15 or 20 years in the trade, you’ve probably learned a lot that isn’t written in a plumbing manual.
You’ve seen good systems and bad ones. You’ve seen pricing that works and pricing that doesn’t. You know which jobs routinely take longer than someone sitting in an office thinks they should.
That’s exactly the experience we’re looking for.
If you’re an accomplished plumber who still wants to work with the tools but would also like the opportunity to help build a better plumbing operation, we’d like to talk. focused on excellence.
Pay: $45.00-$52.00 per hour
