Journeyperson Plumber – Nunavut, Northwest Territories & AlbertaJoin the Nexphase Team

Nexphase is looking for an experienced Journeyperson Plumber to join our growing team. We perform commercial construction and service work throughout Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.

We're looking for someone who is more than just a skilled tradesperson. Because much of our work takes place in remote communities, we need people who can work independently, think ahead, solve problems, and communicate effectively with our Project Management team.

Compensation & Rotation

- Starting wage: $45.00/hour
- Opportunities for increased wages based on experience, performance, leadership, and demonstrated ability
- Overtime paid after 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
- Living Out Allowance (LOA) or meals provided, depending on project accommodations
- Travel provided for remote projects

About the Role Our northern projects require plumbers who are comfortable working in remote environments where materials, equipment, and additional manpower may not be readily available.

Strong planning and foresight are extremely important. We need team members who can look ahead at upcoming work, identify required materials and equipment, recognize potential conflicts, and communicate issues to Project Management before they affect the project schedule.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently when required while also being capable of leading apprentices and coordinating with other trades on larger projects.

Qualifications & Technical Experience

Applicants should hold a recognized Journeyperson Plumber certification and have strong experience with commercial construction.

Candidates should have knowledge and experience in commercial plumbing systems, including but not limited to:

- Commercial domestic water systems
- Hot and cold water distribution
- Sanitary and drainage systems
- Venting systems
- Storm drainage
- Plumbing fixtures and equipment
- Commercial mechanical rooms
- Pumps, valves, and associated equipment
- Water heaters and domestic hot water systems
- Pipe installation, supports, and penetrations
- Reading and interpreting plumbing and mechanical drawings
- Understanding specifications, details, and equipment schedules
- Testing, commissioning,



and troubleshooting plumbing systems
- Coordination of plumbing installations with electrical, HVAC, structural, and other building systems

Experience working on commercial, institutional, municipal, healthcare, educational, or similar facilities is considered an asset. Work from home & Problem Solving

Working in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories is different from working on a typical construction project in a major city.

Materials and replacement parts may be hundreds or thousands of kilometres away. Because of this, we place significant value on employees who can plan ahead and solve problems effectively.

- Take ownership of their work and responsibilities
- Maintain good communication with Project Management while working remotely

- Leading apprentices by example




- Promoting safe work practices among subcontractors and other trades
- Taking responsibility for creating a professional and safe job site

Employees progressing into leadership positions will be expected to help maintain Nexphase's Technology & Communication

Technology is an important part of how we operate our remote projects.

Our field teams are provided with Microsoft Surface computers to access project information and communicate with our office and Project Management teams.

Employees must be comfortable using technology for:

- Accessing drawings and project documentation
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Email
- Instant messaging and team communication
- Reviewing specifications and project information
- Electronic forms and documentation
- Communicating photos, deficiencies, material requirements, and site information to Project Management

Advanced computer skills aren't required, but candidates must be comfortable with technology and willing to learn the systems we use.
