Buffalo Trail Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centred educator to join the team at Irma School for the 2026–2027 school year. This temporary teaching position includes Junior and Senior High Social Studies, CTS, and Band. This is an exciting prospect for an educator who values strong relationships, collaborative learning environments, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a vibrant rural school community.

Specific Position Details

Start Date: August 31, 2026

End Date: November 11, 2026 (or upon the return of the contracted teacher)

Location: Irma School – Irma, Alberta

Assignment: Junior/Senior Social Studies, CTS and Band

Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time

FTE: 1.0

Specific Position Duties The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- Experience and/or training in Junior and Senior Social Studies, CTS and Band instruction
- A strong understanding of the Alberta curriculum and effective instructional practices in Social Studies, CTS and Band
- The ability to create engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that promote critical thinking, problem solving, and student engagement
- Experience using assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth
- The ability to create inclusive learning environments that support a range of learning needs and abilities
- The ability to differentiate instruction and provide appropriate supports and challenges for diverse learners
- A commitment to fostering positive relationships and creating learning environments where all students feel valued and supported
- A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities and the broader school community

Qualifications and General Duties The successful candidate will possess:

- A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- A student-centred philosophy committed to maximizing student learning in a safe and caring environment
- Experience and/or training in Assessment for Learning,



including formative and summative assessment practices
- Proficiency with Google Workspace for Education and educational technology to support communication, collaboration, and student learning
- The ability to foster positive relationships and create a strong sense of belonging for students
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- A demonstrated commitment to professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard
- A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities and the broader school community would be considered an asset
