We are currently seeking a Junior Structural Truss Designer to join our team in Kelowna.

The Opportunity

As a Structural Truss Designer, you will be responsible for creating accurate and efficient truss designs and shop drawings while working closely with engineers, architects, contractors, sales teams, and customers.

You will play an significant role in ensuring that each truss package meets structural, manufacturing, and project requirements from design through production.

Key Responsibilities

- Create accurate truss layouts, shop drawings, and design documentation from architectural and structural plans.
- Design and detail structural wood components using MiTek Sapphire/Structure and related software.
- Review architectural and structural drawings to identify design requirements, potential conflicts, and constructability issues.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, contractors, sales personnel, and customers to clarify project requirements and resolve design questions.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation using CAD tools, Excel, MiTek Management, and other applicable software.
- Respond to technical questions from production teams, regarding truss packages and installation requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting, design revisions, and quality-control initiatives.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and project specifications.




- Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, accuracy, efficiency, and overall customer service.

What We're Looking For Qualifications & Experience

- 3+ years of experience in structural wood component design, preferably within a truss manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with MiTek Sapphire, MiTek Structure, or similar structural design software.
- Strong understanding of light timber framing methods, materials, and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Experience with CAD software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
- Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Engineering or structural design education/experience is considered an asset.
