About the Role
The Lead Fundraiser is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing fundraising initiatives that support the priorities of the Métis Nation of Ontario Cultural Commission (MNOCC). This role focuses on both strategy and implementation, ensuring sustainable revenue generation through diverse fundraising streams including grants, donor relations, campaigns, events, and regulated raffle activities.
This role involves planning, administering, and reporting on fundraising initiatives in a transparent, ethical, and accountable manner. They will work closely with leadership and the MNOCC to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and community impact.
What you will be doing: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with MNOCC priorities
Identify, research, and pursue prospective donors including individuals, corporations, foundations, and institutions
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with donors and funding partners
Research and identify relevant grant opportunities aligned with MNOCC initiatives
Lead or coordinate the preparation, writing, submission, and tracking of grant applications
Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising campaigns, appeals, and special initiatives
Organize fundraising events in collaboration with staff, volunteers, and external partners
Monitor event performance and post-event reporting, including revenue analysis
Oversee raffle-based fundraising activities, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements
Manage licensing applications, reporting obligations, and financial tracking for raffle programs
Implement controls to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible fundraising practices
Track fundraising revenue, expenditures, and campaign performance
Prepare regular reports for leadership and the MNOCC on fundraising outcomes and progress toward targets
Work closely with the MNOCC and MNO leadership to align fundraising priorities with strategic goals
Provide updates, insights, and recommendations on fundraising performance and opportunities
Support public awareness efforts to highlight the MNOCC’s mission, programs, and impact
Collaborate with communications teams on fundraising messaging and donor engagement materials
Promotes the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with others (employees, citizens, council, volunteers, advocates, etc.)
Reports all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and adheres to all Health and Safety requirements within the MNO’s policies and procedures and provincial legislation.
Performs other job/branch-related duties as required.
Qualifications: College Diploma (3 year) in non-profit management, fundraising, communications, business, public administration, or related field
3 to 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, or non-profit revenue generation
Robust strategic thinking and execution skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Relationship-building and stakeholder engagement expertise
High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
Strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Financial literacy and comfort with budgeting and reporting
Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently
Demonstrated experience managing fundraising campaigns, donor portfolios, or grant applications
Experience coordinating events or community-based fundraising initiatives
Knowledge of fundraising compliance and reporting standards
