Accident Benefits Legal Assistant

Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $50,000 – $65,000 depending on experience

Preszler Injury Lawyers was established in 1959 by its founder, Robert P. Preszler. For over 60 years, Preszler Injury Lawyers has restricted its practice to claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, slip/trip and falls, product liability, sexual assault, wrongful dismissal, accident benefits, disability claims, and medical malpractice. Preszler Injury Lawyers exclusively represents Plaintiffs.
About the Role
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and motivated Accident Benefits Legal Assistant to join our personal injury team. The successful candidate will have previous Accident Benefits experience and will work closely with our lawyers and paralegals in supporting clients throughout the claims process.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys client interaction, managing files, and advocating for individuals who have been impacted by motor vehicle accidents.
This position is for an existing vacancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete and submit OCF forms and other Accident Benefits documentation
- Communicate regularly with clients and adjusters regarding benefits, approvals, denials, and outstanding items
- Prepare written correspondence to clients, adjusters, opposing counsel, and other parties
- Review and manage incoming correspondence at the direction of the assigned lawyer or paralegal
- Prepare LAT Applications and LAT Case Conference Summaries
- Request and organize medical records through MedChart
- Assist with Section 33 requests, Examinations Under Oath, and related Accident Benefits matters
- Track outstanding documentation, treatment approvals, and benefit denials
- Notify clients of upcoming insurer examinations and other appointments
- Maintain calendars and diarize Case Conferences, LAT hearings, production deadlines, and other important dates
- Review medical documentation and Accident Perks files
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic files
- Perform other duties as required to support the Accident Benefits team
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous Accident Benefits experience gained within a personal injury law firm and/or medical or rehabilitation clinic is required
- Strong understanding of the Accident Perks claims process
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional and compassionate approach to client service
- Strong client-service mindset with a genuine focus on advocacy
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
- Comfortable learning new systems, processes, and procedures
