Your New Role
Reporting to Legal Counsel, you will play an important part in supporting litigation, arbitration, and tribunal matters while ensuring accurate document management, file administration, deadline tracking, and stakeholder coordination.
What You Need to Do
- Provide administrative and clerical support to one or more lawyers within the legal team.
- Open, maintain, track, and close legal files while monitoring deadlines and file status.
- Prepare, format, review, and organize legal correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, motion records, briefs, tribunal materials, and arbitration documentation under lawyer supervision.
- Assist with preparing materials for courts, tribunals, arbitrations, and hearings.
- Maintain legal records, databases, statistics, and reporting information.
- Review reserve-setting and claim payment documentation to ensure compliance with established protocols.
- Schedule meetings,
coordinate calendars, and manage legal documentation processes.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, external counsel, courts, tribunals, and arbitrators as required.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Diploma in Legal Assistant Studies, Law Clerk, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience providing admin or clerical support within a civil litigation environment.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Detail-oriented and process-focused approach to work.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
